The syntax when decompiling and checking for nothing in VB.net is invalid:

JustDecompile:

Public Property MaxDate As DateTime
    Get
        If (Me.ViewState("MaxDate") <> Nothing) Then
            Return DirectCast(Me.ViewState("MaxDate"), DateTime)
        Else
            Return New DateTime(2099, 12, 31)
        End If
    End Get

Correct Syntax:

Public Property MaxDate As DateTime
    Get
        If (Me.ViewState("MaxDate") IsNot Nothing) Then
            Return DirectCast(Me.ViewState("MaxDate"), DateTime)
        Else
            Return New DateTime(2099, 12, 31)
        End If
    End Get
