While the default font size is indeed smaller, you can change that through the Fiddler Classic settings. Go to Tools > Options > Appearance and from the section, you can enlarge your font, choose a different font, and make several other appearance changes. The screenshot demonstrates what Fiddler Classic looks like with a font size of 12.
As a side note, if you want a modern-day alternative to Fiddler Classic, you could also try Fiddler Everywhere.
