Is there a test project for testing the CMS side of Sitefinity?
I would assume that Telerik must use something like that when developing - it would be really handy to be able to use that ourselves. For example at the moment I'm upgrading some of our sites to Sitefinity 3.7 SP3, at the same time we're migrating from Oracle to SQL Server. The extract into SQL Server went fine, but because I'd used a 3.7 SP3 project to build a new SQL Server database some of the CMS functionality failed, things like uploading documents & Images because the database tables were different between SP2 (which the sites were still using) and SP3 which the database was.
If there were a test project that tested the 'out of the box' functionality of Sitefinity I could add that to our build server, probably in a nightly build, and then I would know whether the changes work or not.
Basically it would save me a lot of time writing the same test suite myself.

Hi Simon,
Thank you for using our services.
You can use the Telerik University sample project which comes with Sitefinity. It is a distribution of the online demo of Sitefinity. You can test against this project. When you open the Project Manager bellow the list of Sitefinity projects you will see a link saying Explore sample site. This will deploy the sample project on your machine.

Hi Radoslav,
I'm not after a website to test - but a test suite to run against a website.
So I'd like a set of tests to verify that the Telerik University site works.

Hi Simon,
Thank you for the clarification.
We do have automated testing tools suite - Automated Testing Tools. They let you record web tests instead of writing them. However I am afraid that the Sitefinity back-end and the automating testing tools do not go very well. The front-end on the other hand can be tested using those tools. We do not distribute a test project for Sitefinity out of the box, unfortunately.
Best wishes,

Are there any plans to release a suite of tests that confirm a fresh instance of Sitefinity works?
It would be an enormous help when it comes to upgrading versions and to demonstrate best practices.
Otherwise I'm in much the same position as if I were to simply use WaTiN or Selenium - it would add signficant value to the tools.

Hello Simon,
We do have such tests written, however they are for internal use. This way we are testing the Sitefinity 4.0 implementation, apart from other testing methods. However we have not planned for a public release of such tests.

Hi Radoslav,
Would you consider supplying me with the internal tests?
If not could I request Telerik make them available publically in future, I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking they would be invaluable to people working with Sitefinity.

Hello Simon,
We will discuss the public distribution of our test with the Sitefinity 4.0 official release. I will let you know once we reach a decision.
