SOLUTION Every IDockable window like DockPanel, DocumentPane, UserDockControl, UserDockForm has the following properties related to its size:
To change the size from code behind in run time you can use the following code snippet: dockPanel1.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(300, dockPanel1.Size.Height);
Note that when setting the Size property it automatically performs layout recalculation in contrast to setting a size of PreferredDockSize or PreferredFloatSize.
