Not answered Export to PDF with transparent background

Sorry if this is a silly question or if I'm using the wrong terminology. I am not so familiar with the PDF specs.

The report I am exporting to PDF is mostly white space with a little text (as are most reports, I suppose). However, I don't really want it to be "white space". Instead, I want it to be "transparent" or "empty space".

Why?

I have another PDF that we refer to as "Electronic Letterhead". We take the "Electronic Letterhead" and imprint the report "on top of" it. Similar to putting pre-printed letterhead in your printer then printing the report on it. Imagine, however, if your printer actually printed white ink all over your pretty letterhead thereby effectively hiding it. Ouch! That's what's happening when we layer the telerik report (exported to PDF) on top of our "Electronic Letterhead". Is there any way to tell the PDF export to leave the white space "transparent" instead of "white"?

FWIW, we are using ABCpdf to "merge" the two documents.

Thank you for contacting Telerik Support.

Can you try setting the BackgroundColor of your report to Transparent. It is White by default, and that is why the entire PDF page is "painted" in white. But if you change it to Transparent, the PDF page will be left as is. Give this a try and tell us the results.

It seems embarrassingly obvious now that you point it out, but with all of the different properties I simply didn't look for the most obvious one.

Hi We use also telerik controls but i am writing for something similar

We have a prototype pdf with hand writing in each field.
Using some method,  we have in xml -and offcourse in pdf- an electronic produced pdf with recognized fields(after ocr).  So we want to tell users....see the original,  see the produced pdf  and make some corrections . We do that by presenting side by side the original pdf and produced pdf .So we would like to know if there is possibility just to have only one pdf and have in the field "Areas" the handwritten letters and the digital recognized letters,  so the user can compare them more easily

Your best bet is to set an image/screenshot of the "original" document as background image to the respective report section and place and fields from the database where they should be. Telerik Reporting however does not allow for end-users to "alter" the report, so unless your users have Visual Studio on their machines, this would not be applicable.

If we've misunderstood your request - please elaborate.
