Q3 2014 SP1 is here, and I'd like to share what’s in it. With this release, we have addressed over 200 feedback items (see our Release Notes), RichTextEditor is official, we've added two new chart series to RadChartView–bezier and bubble–and we are fully compatible with all versions of Visual Studio 2013 (including the Community Edition) and with Windows 10 Technical preview. Read below for the rest of the goodies that come with this release.
Let me highlight some of the features that come with the new RadRichTextEditor.
- New and improved ribbon UI
- Localization: All dialogs can now be localized
- Printing with watermark support
- Support for right-to-left languages
- IME (input method editor) support
- Document protection and read-only ranges
- Read-only ranges are a convenient way to restrict some of the content of a particular document from editing. When content is in a read-only range, users are unable to edit, format or delete it. What's more, manipulating the document from code with RadRichTextEditor's API or commands is also not possible.
- RadRichTextEditor also provides another, more advanced option for restricting content, which allows particular users or groups of users to edit different parts of a document.
- Header and footer
- Mail merge: The general use of mail merge is the creation of a document serving as a template and filling in different data, e.g. the name of a person, their address, job title and so on. However, mail merge can be used in other scenarios, as well, when some part of the document will be repeated several times with slight alterations.
- Mini toolbar
- Rulers
- Image resizing and rotating
- Track changes, code blocks, references, document variables and many many others. You can refer to our online documentation for full list of the supported features.
RadChartView
RadChartView features two new series types
Bezier series
Bubble series
RadListControl & RadDropDownList
The controls now feature alternating items color.
RadTreeView
We have added a better visual indication on where a node will be placed–before other node, after it or as its sibling.
I can keep going with all the improvements we’ve introduced, but I don’t want to bore you, so I'll let you try out the latest release yourself. A full list of the changes is available in our Release Notes.
