Hello,

I am trying to create my first testing in Visual Studios 2013 with the Test Studio plugin.  I am following the instrustions below.  For some reason Telerik is not showing up as an installed template, when trying to select a project type.  VS 2013 was installed before Test Studio.  I have unistalled and re-installed Test Studio, but no luck.

 http://docs.telerik.com/teststudio/getting-started/create-test-vsplugin/web-test

Please advise.....thanks,

Sean

Hi Sean,

That is very strange. During the install, did our plugin feature show up, and was it selected as shown in the attached screen shot? If yes it implies something went wrong during the install process. Can you do the install one more time, but this time generate an install log, then send us the log (put into a .zip file first)? The install log should tell us why our plugin for Visual Studio failed to install as expected.

Hey Cody,

Yes, the plugin feature showed up on the toolbar, but when I try to create a new project Telerik does not show up as an installed plugin.

I have installed Test Studio again.  Attached is the install log.

Thanks,

Sean

Hello Sean,

Thank you for the log. It shows that the installation of our plugin is erring out with a generic error code 3001. Thus our plugin actually failed to install to some yet to be discovered reason.

I'd like you to try manually installing it:

1) Open a command prompt window
2) Navigate to the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\Test Studio\TestAdapterVS2013"
3) Run this command:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\VSIXInstaller.exe,Target= /u:"Telerik.TestStudio.TestAdapter.VS2013"  /s:Pro /v:12.0

Does this report any error? If so what does it say?

Hi Sean,

What exactly did it say in the command prompt window? If you look in the Windows Event Viewer (see attached screen shot for a reference) do you see any entries relating to the failed install? We need to find some sort of error message that indicates what the problem is.

Hey Cody,

I am not seeing any errors from the last install I did.

I installed the following file Telerik.TestStudio.TestAdapter-VS2013.vsix successfully, but Telerik template still doesn't show up.

When I ran the command C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio
12.0\Common7\IDE\VSIXInstaller.exe,Target=
/u:"Telerik.TestStudio.TestAdapter.VS2013"  /s:Pro /v:12.0

it simply couldn't find it.

Thanks,

Sean

Thanks,

Sean

Hello Sean,

Which edition of Visual Studio do you have installed? We require Profession edition or above. Do you see the Test template available as shown in the attached screen shot? Test Studio requires this feature be available and installed in Visual Studio.
