Hello

I am trying the trial version of the software, in hope we can purchase one if we can get it to do what RPT can't :)

We have:
- windows vista 64bit
- Internet Explorer 7.0.6002.18005
- telerik 2010.2.927 (internal build)

I load up the start of the application (online) it;s silverlight and when telerik is configuring the silverlight, it make internet explorer crash...

We get teh error "Internet Explorer has stopped responding"

Is there anything I can do?

I need the latest version of telerik, to be able to record wotking in layers and silverlight pop ups.

Regards,
Tom

Hi tom,

Thank you for taking the time to evaluate WebUI Test Studio. By RPT are you referring to Rational Performance Tester? I just want to make certain you aren't looking for load testing from WebUI Test Studio. The tool is aimed at functional/logical testing of your web application. It currently does not support load testing. I just want to make sure you're not looking for a feature that we can't offer at this time.

I am sorry you have run into this problem. Of course this is not supposed to happen. Let's start by eliminating simple things. Please make sure that the .XAML MIME type is properly configured on your webserver as documented here.

If that doesn't help, is it possible for us to connect directly to your Silverlight application? I'd like to try and reproduce this problem and figure out the cause of it. We'll gladly sign a non-disclosure agreement if needed.

Best wishes,
Cody

Hello

Yes I was refering to the IBM Rational tool.

We are just performace testing for times.. Your tool does it for us perfectly, for user acceptnce.. (Saves me doing it with a stopwatch!)

I have it all working on one terminal and just can't get to to not crash internet explorer on another :(

I will check the IE settings tomorrow and maybe thelist of installed programs on both.

I couldn't give you access etc, even with a disclousour sorry.

Do you have any client side cofiguration guides/templates or suggestions?

Regards,
Tom

Hi tom,

You can compare the installed and enabled add-ons on the two machines. Here is the guideline for setting up IE 7 and above so that we can automate it:

Configure IE for Automation

Let us know how it goes.

Hello all,

I have solved this problem now.

I found after following your I.E configuration documentation, I still ran into the same problem.

I then compared the Addons from one machine to the next and disabled about 7 of them which I had different on the none working machine compared to the working.

I will continue to isolate each one and tell you which add on specifically caused telerik in record mode to crash I.E.

Tom

Morning,

I have found that the folling add-on:

Name: IERationalEnabler Class

Publisher: (Not verified) Rational Software

Type: Browser Helper Object

File: RTXIEEnabler.dll

Causes Telerik - WebUI Test Studio to not be able to record in Internet Explorer (IE )due to IE becoming unresponsive/ Crashing, when WebUI Test Studio is Detecting (configuring Silverlight).

Tom

Hello tom,

Thank you for the great detective work! We've made note of this. Can you point us to the software where this BHO comes from?

Also, in our Q3 release we've done a major change with how we work with IE such that we should no longer have conflicts with BHO's like this one. If you can we'd appreciate you retesting running WebUI Test Studio with this BHO enabled after our Q3 release (in about 5 weeks).

Greetings,
