I'm currently working through the tutorials located here:
http://www.telerik.com/documents/TelerikReporting-LearningGuide.pdf

On page 25, when creating your report viewer, step 5 says to "Set the Report property from the drop down list.
All I see are 2 properties:

ServerReport
LocalReport

Have I missed a step somewhere?

Hello Missiodei,

You must have added the wrong report viewer to your form i.e. most likely the SSRS report viewer which does have the ability to display both their rdl and rdlc files. Telerik Reporting is a stand-alone product (competitor of SSRS) which has its own report viewer which is available in the Visual Studio Toolbox under Telerik Reporting <version> tab.

Hello Javier,

The linked PDF file is old and does not include all new features.

If your intent is to use Telerik Reporting, details how to start creating Telerik Reports and display them in viewers are available in the Quickstart help section. For the purpose, my recommendation is to start with the provided Report Designers. The overview articles contain descriptions of the designers UI.

To start test to create a new ClassLibrary project with the minimum system requirements of Telerik Reporting, and add a new item.  To connect your data, you can use any of the reporting data source components, where you can use report parameters to control the data retrieval e.g. SqlDataSource Wizard step 4 which is based on Using Parameters with the SqlDataSource component.
An example of supplying data via service is available in the Connecting Telerik Reporting to OData feeds blog post.

You can check also the local demos installed by default under C:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\Reporting <VERSION>\Examples.

Regards,
Stef
