I was recently hired to take over a project.  I am utterly unfamiliar with this product.  When I try and run, I get 'Cannot find resource EntityDiagrams.rlinq embedded in assembly...'

If I try and 'Run Custom Tool' on the rlinq object, I get 'Cannot find Custom Tool MetaModelCodeGenerator on System'

The code is a fresh checkout from svn, I updated the Telerik data nuget packages....now what.

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for contacting us.

From the provided details it appears that the project is using a Domain Model (.rlinq file). In order to work with this project you would need to install Telerik DataAccess version Q1 2015 or earlier, NuGet packages do not support working with .rlinq files.

Note that  this version requirement is due to recent changes in the development direction of the product due to which all of its visual features (including .rlinq files) have been deprecated. New versions of Telerik DataAccess will be distributed only as NuGet packages. With this in mind if you wish to use the latest version of Telerik DataAccess you would need to migrate your project to Fluent Model.

You can download the Q1 2015 version of the product from this page.

I hope this helps. Feel free to post at our forums again in case you have additional questions.

I have same scenario.

Tried OpenAccessAssemblies (http://docs.telerik.com/data-access/deprecated/developers-guide/integrating-data-access-in-your-solution/external-tools-howto-integrate-enhancer-msbuild) solution. But it fails.

Then I try to download Q1 2015 version as you mentioned but I'm not able to download and getting 404 error page (http://www.telerik.com/account/your-products/download-file.aspx?fileid=18483)

could you please help me on this:

1. Why I'm not able to download the Q1 2015 version.

2. Can I make .rlinq work without installing Q1 2015

3. Do I need to install Q1 2015 even if I want to migrate to Fluent Model as you mentioned above

Hello Rajamanickam,

On your questions:

1. Why I'm not able to download the Q1 2015 version?
The 404 error appears because the account you are using had never downloaded Data Access before. At this point the error is resolved for the account and you can download Data Access Q1 2015 from here.

2. Can I make .rlinq work without installing Q1 2015?
The support for .rlinq files is part of the Visual Studio integration of Data Access, and it was deprecated in Data Access Q2 2015. The latest version of Data Access that supports .rlinq files is Q1 2015. As a note, if you decide to use Data Access Q1 2015, you will have to maintain your application in Visual Studio 2010, 2012, or 2013. Data Access Q1 2015 does not support Visual Studio 2015.

3. Do I need to install Q1 2015 even if I want to migrate to Fluent Model as you mentioned above?
Indeed, Data Access Q1 2015 is a prerequisite for the workflow described here.

I hope this helps.

I can able to build and run the existing application (which used .rlinq) successfully after installed the Data Access Q1 2015(http://www.telerik.com/account/your-products/download-file.aspx?fileid=18483). But when I try to open the .rlinq files in visual studio, it open as xml view only.

Could you please suggest me how could I edit table schema/relationships on rlinq file. By the way I'm using visual studio 2015

Hi Rajamanickam,

It is expected to see the XML representation of the .rlinq file with Visual Studio 2015 and Data Access Q1 2015. The reason for it is that Data Access Q1 2015 does not support Visual Studio 2015. In order to see the diagram you need Visual Studio 2010, or 2012, or 2013. Our recommendations for maintaining existing applications and starting new ones with Data Access are described in this forum post.

I hope this helps.

Hi

Is there an up to date link for the Q1 2015 data Access installer. The installer I have that was downloaded at the time of release won't install as it says there's a new version available.

Thanks,
Andrew
