The minute I installed the update to the controls has been met with BS from left to right...

Why don't you change your new beta DataBoundListBox in to new name to something like DataBoundListBoxExt, and leave your old DataBoundListBox control until the new one passed the beta ?
I also have to revert to Q3 2014, to be honest, don't impressed with Q1 2015 for Release, the only new control added in this release is SideDrawer compared to Q3.
I'm happy if I'm wrong, but I even think telerik will abonding WP/Universal judging from this release.
Thank you for contacting us. I'm not sure I fully understand your suggestion about renaming the controls. Could you please elaborate a bit more.
The Q1 2015 release of UI for Windows Universal adds 4 new universal controls to the suite - ListView (beta), SideDrawer, LoopingList and NumericBox.
I can assure you we're far from abandoning the new Windows Runtime. Universal Windows Apps play an important role in our native mobile offering since the main goal of our native mobile suites (Android, iOS, Windows Universal, Xamarin) is to provide developers with similar APIs and features for building native mobile apps. In addition, UI for Windows Phone 8 is one of the richest development tools for building WP apps and it would be a shame if we don't enable the controls for WinRT.
Let me know what you think. I'd be glad to continue the discussion with you.

I think, it's better if I start my own thread than hijacking this thread, :D
But I'm glad you ensure that telerik will not abandoning Windows Universal.
