I have an application with multiple tabs. I'd like it possible for user to "undock" tabs from the tabstrip and convert them into windows simply by dragging the tab outside of the tabstrip. And similar to re-dock a window as a tab if you drag a window back onto the tabstrip.

This is implemented in Google Chrome browser and I find the idea really appealing. And a nice way for the user to make separate windows on demand.

Is this possible to do with the WinForms Rad Controls? A small proof-of-concept would be great.

Hi paal_a,

Thank you for contacting us. We do not support that functionality, but you can review our Tabbed Document example for the Dock component in the Demo application. This is the closest thing we currently provide in our WinForms suite.

Please do not hesitate to contact us back if you have further questions.

Are there any future plans for this kind of stuff?

The drag-out tab to window and vice verca along with further Google Chrome-like UI would be very nice.

Hello Macleod,

We have no plans to rework the tabstrip/pageview to support this functionality, because these controls are used for navigation (just like a file's properties box in your Windows), whereas the Google Chrome-like UI is a Tabbed Document interface, where each tab represents a document.

If you want to achieve Tabbed Document interface, please use RadDock instead.

Best wishes,
Vassil
