Hi,

What is the status of  Test Studio for API licensing? Is will be selling as part of Telerik studio or Telerik API project is dying slowly and has no future? We have quite a few API test written and wondering maybe its time to switch to  Postman  as its $8-18 per month.

Also, I have an issues to start Telerik API after upgrade as licensing  gives authorization error and shut downs

Thanks in advance.

Jim

Hi Jim,

The standalone Test Studio for APIs is not discontinued and the installation that you have on your end can be used without limitations - both to design new and execute existing tests. However, I have to admit that there are some licensing issues on our end with the latest 2018.3 version. This said, you will need to downgrade to version 2018.1, which holds the same codebase and should work without issues. If you don't keep the installer, you can find it in this shared folder.

As for our future plans, the future releases of Test Studio for APIs will be part of Test Studio Ultimate only. This means that for newer versions the tests that you have designed, will be fully executable if you have the Ultimate version of Test Studio. In addition to that we had recently integrated the execution of API tests within a web test. Please see further details for this feature in case you are interested.

Sorry for the caused inconvenience. I hope that the above information will answer your questions and that Test Studio for APIs 2018.01 will work for you as before. Please, let me know if you have further questions or concerns.

Hi Plamen,

I thank you quick answer.  I hope this product will have separate license from Test Studio as it would not be financially justifiable for small companies to spend $2k+ for product and 5-10 licenses, then even paid alternatives will cost $300 or less a year. I been using telerik api studio for last two years and one most  loved features is ability to write complex thing in C# and not in Javascript like Postman.

Anyway, keep great work guys!

Sincerely Jim

Hi Jim,

Thank you for the interest in our product.

Please excuse me if it was unclear in my previous reply, but I would like to assure you, that the standalone version of Test Studio for APIs will still be available and free with the current installation you have. However, future updates and bug fixes will be available only in Test Studio Ultimate.

In relation to that I would like to ask you if you can benefit from the other features of the Ultimate package like web, load, performance, wpf and mobile testing. If you can apply those features to your projects, this will increase the value you get from our product.

In addition to the above said, we can offer you a discount for the licensed Test Studio Ultimate, if you are interested in the other types of testing we provide.

Please don't hesitate to contact us back.
