Hello Team,
I have some testcases where simulated Real typing is ON, so when I run those test cases I need to keep the playback window as the active window. I cannot open any other window while the playback is running. In case I move to other window during playback, the test case fails. Is there someway I can have the playback run in background with simulated real typing ON, and work on some other window at same time.

Thank You
Rohit Pillai

Hi Rohit,

The SimulateRealTyping feature requires moving the mouse and sending keystrokes similar to what you would experience through a standard user’s input. This makes it difficult to use other applications at the same time. Just like it would be difficult to use other applications while you type in your browser.

As a workaround, you can configure Test Studio within a Virtual Machine. This will eliminate Test Studio taking over the active window, and allow you to continue working with other windows during playback.

Dear Rodney,

I've attempted to run Test Studio on a virtual machine, however the tests are scheduled in the evening when no connections to a non-virtual machine are active. I have added some steps which include both RealTyping and RealMouseClick, but for some reason these tests fail to pass except when I'm connected to this VM. I'm using the remote desktop connection for making a connection to the VM. Could you please point me in the right direction as to what I can do to resolve this issue. If any information is required please let me know, I'll have to check if said information is allowed to be distributed however. I'm looking forward to you reply.

With kind regards

Hello Stefan,

This is a well known problem for which there is no simple solution. All test automation tools that require keyboard or mouse action have the same limitation. Please see here for more information.
