When no data is returned from the database, we display a no data message. In our application we are used to using the interactive mode as the default when users view reports.

However, when the data source is empty and the report viewer is in interactive mode, no headers are rendered. This means the user simply gets a very cryptic empty page.

The headers are rendered fine if there is data or if the viewer is set to page layout mode.

Hi Thys,

As of Telerik Reporting Q2 2014 SP1 version 8.1.14.804, if the report's DataSource contains zero records, there will be rendered the page sections and all static groups' sections (groups without set grouping expression).
Thus you can add s static group and display a message in its sections, or keep the viewer in PrintPreview view mode.

I hope the above information is helpful.

Stef

Hi Ise,

Please check the How to show 'No Data Message' or hide an item in case of No data KB article.

Great, my problem was that even the page footer wasn't displaying on an empty dataset. When I added a page header as well, it started to work.

Thanks
