Hi again guys,
how can we localize the ImageEditor control into a different language? I'm actually using the WP 7 version.
Thanks!

Thank you for your question.
The localization of RadImageEditor is included in our plans for the next major release of RadControls for Windows Phone, scheduled for the middle of October.

Any news about the localization of the RadImageEditor for WP? The docs at:
http://www.telerik.com/help/windows-phone/imageeditor-overview.html
don't reveal anything of this. Maybe I am looking at the wrong Place?
The localization options are included in the ImageEditor control since Q3 as promised. In order to localize the control in a language of your choice you can use ResourceMangers or StringLoaders as the documentation states here.
We will soon add our own translated strings for all the text that is used in the control, so the texts will be used in English, German, Italian or French depending on the selected culture of the device that runs the application. You will simply need to add the relevant cultures to the supported cultures list in your application. The localization strings will be included in the internal build that will be released later this week.
Let us know if you need further assistance.

Hello Todor,
I have created a resource file "ImageEditorResources.resx" according to the link, and added a link to it in the class constructor:
public EditorPage()
{
Telerik.Windows.Controls.InputLocalizationManager.Instance.ResourceManager = ImageEditorResources.ResourceManager;
InitializeComponent();
}
The ImageEditorResources.resx file contains keys:
Cancel |
Close |
ImageEditor_Adjust |
ImageEditor_Amount |
ImageEditor_Background |
ImageEditor_BorderColor |
ImageEditor_BorderThickness |
ImageEditor_CanvasResize |
ImageEditor_CanvasSize |
ImageEditor_Crop |
ImageEditor_DrawText |
ImageEditor_DrawText_YourTextHere |
ImageEditor_Effect_Blur |
ImageEditor_Effect_Brightness |
ImageEditor_Effect_ContrastAdjust |
ImageEditor_Effect_HueShift |
ImageEditor_Effect_InvertColors |
ImageEditor_Effect_Saturation |
ImageEditor_Effect_Sharpen |
ImageEditor_Effects |
ImageEditor_FlipHorizontal |
ImageEditor_FlipVertical |
ImageEditor_FontSize |
ImageEditor_Height |
ImageEditor_HorizontalPosition |
ImageEditor_ImageAlignment |
ImageEditor_ImagePreview |
ImageEditor_ImageSize |
ImageEditor_Open |
ImageEditor_Options |
ImageEditor_PreserveAspectRatio |
ImageEditor_Radius |
ImageEditor_Redo |
ImageEditor_RelativeSize |
ImageEditor_Resize |
ImageEditor_Rotate180 |
ImageEditor_Rotate270 |
ImageEditor_Rotate90 |
ImageEditor_Rotation |
ImageEditor_RoundCorners |
ImageEditor_Save |
ImageEditor_Text |
ImageEditor_TextColor |
ImageEditor_TheFileCannotBeOpened |
ImageEditor_TheFileIsLocked |
ImageEditor_Transform |
ImageEditor_UnableToSaveFile |
ImageEditor_Undo |
ImageEditor_UnsupportedFileFormat |
ImageEditor_VerticalPosition |
ImageEditor_Width |
Ok |

ResetAll |
in finnish. Nevertheless, ImageEditor displays everything in english. Sorry to bother you, but maybe I am missing something?
The reason you didn't successed in the localization is that you should use keys with the exact names that can be found in the ImageEditorLocalizationManager class. I have attached an example to demonstrate how you can manually localize RadImageEditor with your own strings.
I hope this information helps.

Thanks for the help, it works now partially. :-)
I had taken the resource key names from: http://www.telerik.com/help/wpf/radimageeditor-localization.html
The WPF is not compatible with the WP version. Apparently my mistake, but I couldn't find any other documentation about the key names at the time. I also needed to change the setting of the resource manager from:
Telerik.Windows.Controls.InputLocalizationManager.Instance.ResourceManager = ImageEditorResources.ResourceManager;
to:
ImageEditorLocalizationManager.Instance.ResourceManager = ImageEditorResources.ResourceManager;
Now I get the main level texts in the editor in finnish. When I select any tool, the texts embedded in the tool (if any) are in english.
Do you have any suggestions on how to localize the texts embedded within the tools of RadImageEditor? For example, Orientation tool name is in finnish, but when I now select it, the orientation tool opens and I see texts "rotate" and "flip" in plain english.
BR,
Matti
Thank you for getting back to us.
You are right, the localization strings are different for the Image Editor for Windows Phone and for WPF. By the end of the month the WP documentation will be updated and the correct localization strings will be included.
Each of the assemblies that you need to localize has its own localization manager, which explains why you need the ImageEditorLocalizationManager for RadImageEditor (which is part of the ImageEditor assembly) and the example in the documentation demonstrates how to localize the Input assembly.
I managed to reproduce the issue with the texts in each of the tools. Our Service Pack release is coming by the end of the month and it will contain the fix for this. You can now finish the localization of the control by using the keys from the example from the previous post and once you update to the service pack version RadImageEditor will be fully localized.
Please accept my appologizes for the long delay with your request.
I have updated your telerik points for your continuous feedback.
If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to write us back.
