Is Graphite suppose to be able to connect directly with my iphone or use ion ?

Reason asking is I have it connected via itunes with cable and it's saying no device detected.  I am using the latest version of itunes as of today

Yes, if your phone is recognized in iTunes, Graphite should recognize it too. You must use Ion only to deploy your application if you have no provision installed in graphite - then your application is deployed inside Ion. If you have provision, there is no need to use Ion, application will be deployed directly on device.
