I need to find all stories that do NOT have a parent feature.  How can I do this?  We use the Features/Epics to sort and track work pretty extensively now and I want to make sure that all stories are categorized properly.

Also, is there a way to get the amount of hours in the whole project, including the backlog?  My leadership would like a report that shows Number of Hours Complete vs Number of Total Estimate Hours so that they can get a vague sense of percentage done based on the current known stories.  I have a way to do it, but its not great, so I'm wondering if there is a better option.  What I do right now is go to the Backlog, filter to only Features, export to Excel, and then do some quick summations to find total hours and hours completed.

Thanks.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for contacting us.

Regarding your request how to find stories that have now parent. Here is the work around I’ll suggest.
Filter to the rage of items you want to check or use the whole backlog if you need.
1.    Switch to the board view
2.    Use the Rows and Columns settings, as follow;
    a.    Row set : Parent Item, filtered by type: Feature
    b.    Columns set: No columns
The first row will show all the items that do not have a parent item set. You can select and item and quickly set its feature on the left panel. See 1st and 2nd attachment.
We plan to implement, while in a grid view, to have a Parent Item property column, which shows the parent of the item. This is currently in place but works only for tasks.

Will the above scenario help you solve your case?

As for the second request. There is option in TeamPulse to track for each Feature planed estimates vs actual roll-up estimates from its children stories. Here is how you can do that:

Select the list view, narrow down your filter to Features ( type: Feature), and pick the following columns from left:
•    Estimate
•    Stories Count
•    Stories Count Progress
•    Stories Est.
•    Stories Est. Progress

You will end up with a view similar to the 3nd attachment.  You could export the view, using shown columns only.
Hope this will solve your need.

I have noticed that you use the Telerik Platform and have interest in the mobile development; also, there is a request to integrate the TeamPulse with the mobile platform, coming from you?

Do you think I can book 20-30 minutes of your time and discuss the current challenges your team is facing regarding the Telerik Platform and the needs for integration with TeamPulse?

If so, please let me know what would be the most convenient time, and will set up a meeting and send you a GoToMeeting request.

If there are any additional question feel free to contact me.

Vesna,

Thank you.  The first option was exactly what I was looking for.  I was able to find and fix several of the items that we had missed.

The second option was helpful.  I will still need to do some Excel calculation.  They want an overall project percentage done and this doesn't give it completely, but thank you.

Yes, the request for the Telerik Platform<=>Teampulse integration did come from me.  I would be happy to talk to you.  Please understand that we do not have a shipping project yet, we are just anticipating needs based on what we are seeing at this time.

Do you have a private messaging option (either forums or email) to discuss dates and times?
