Hi, Telerik
Is it possible to set default value of DateSelector in DatePicker control?
For example, value of DatePicker control is null, but when I'm tap on "Select date" text, DateSelector must  displaying special date (not current date).

Hello Yuri,

We do not have support for Default Values currently.

Since we consider this feature important, however, we will add this suggestion to our TODO list.

For the time being, you can simply set the Value property of the control to the desired date.

Let us know if you have some further questions or need assistance.

Kind regards,

Hi,

Did this ever get added?  I am looking for the same thing and this post is a few years old so I assume it must now exist?

Hi Dawn,

This thread is for the discontinued Telerik RadControls for Windows Phone 7  (Windows Phone 7 is a product that was cancelled several years ago). Can you clarify which product you're using?

I see that the large majority of your support interactions are for UI for ASP.NET MVC, were you looking for how to set the default value for the Kendo DatePicker? If yes, you can see the online demo here, you only need to preset the Value property to have a default value.

If this is not what you were looking for, I see that you have a full license for support. You can submit a support ticket here and get a guaranteed response by the engineers responsible for the specific control in the relevant product suite.

Let me know if there's anything else I can assist with.

My apologies - I hadn't realised this thread was for that.  Yes its for the MVC DatePicker. However the example you sent me sets the actual value of the date picker.  I don't want to set the value, I want to simply ensure when they click the calendar button next to the input and the calendar pops open that it goes to the specific month I need.

If I simply set the value then the input box shows that value and I don't want them to see any value in the input box until they have selected a date from the month in question.

So for example:-

If I open the datapicker calendar it will show todays date highlighted and the current month.  But if in my first datepicker I have selected a date from Say January 2017, then when I open the calendar in the next date picker I want it to popup to January too, not March.

I hope this makes sense - your help would still be very much appreciated.

Hi Dawn,

Thank you for clarifying the product and the scenario you're looking to achieve.

Can you please open a support ticket for this issue as it is out of scope for this thread? This will allow me to have one of the Kendo support engineers assist you (go here to open a ticket, you'll see UI for ASP.NET MVC as an option)

I'll keep an eye on your account and when I see the new ticket, I'll forward it directly to them for a quick follow up.

Just so that you know, Forum threads don't carry any guarantee that a Telerik Support Engineer will respond. We try our best to monitor the forums and respond, but this is limited by available resources and available personnel.

However, a Support Ticket carries a 24 hour response time guarantee (for your license and product topic). Moreover, because I'm already aware of this request and I'll be monitoring your account for the ticket, you'll likely get a much sooner response.

Thank you for your understanding and sorry for any inconvenience.
