I have an app the uses MS ChildWindows for it's editors.  When I tried to record a test on the editors the UIWedTest does not 'see' the childwindows.  The red highlight border still only focuses on the parent window.  How can I get UIWebTest to see the child window?

Hi J Kabath,

Thank you for taking the time to evaluate our products.

Is this a Silverlight ChildWindow object? This is a known issue and unfortunately there is no workaround in the currently released product. I've attached a document that more clearly outlines what we do and don't support for popup windows in the Silverlight realm.

The good news is that support for ChildWindow's is currently in development and will be released in a near future version. I can't say exactly when but it will be before the end of the year. One thing to keep in mind, every purchase automatically comes with 1 year of premier support which includes free upgrades to any new versions released with that time.

Kind regards,

Hi,

just today, telerik releases a new version that should address that issue and enable recording child windows. However, when we tried it out, it failed again. We tried the installation a couple of times of different machines (Windows 7, VisualStudio 2010) but all to no avail.

Any suggestion on how to record child window test will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi Ryan,

Yes, it requires a small modification to your Silverlight application to enable ChildWindow support. We are just about to post a blog on this tomorrow. Attached is the final draft of the document that will be posted in the blog describing how to get ChildWindow support.
