I have absolutely zero mobile app development and have only recently started reading up a bit on the subject.

It's my understanding that developing iOS apps for the Apple 'store' (which I also have zero experience with) can be a bit difficult.

My question is this: My work usually involves developing apps for in-house use.  Do I need to get any sort of license or permission from Apple in order to develop an app for non-public use?  (i.e. My own personal iOS device or my employer?)

Hello Boris,

The short answer is no. Icenium comes with a free test utility called Icenium Ion that lets you run your app on iOS devices without requiring an Apple Developer account, provisioning profile, or cryptographic identity. You can find more information in the Using Icenium Ion section in our documentation.

Of course Steve is correct, but to make his answer more complete... We are using adhoc/enterprise distribution for our corporate app. Apple has a Enterprise program for this.
