Hello,
I have a report made with the Report Designer, and it has a table with a column to show a background image (which may be changed with conditional formatting).
See attached images. The image shows properly with the preview, as well as in the exports (pdf, excel...). However, the asp.net html5 viewer shows the images in a different scale/zoomed.
Is this a bug or I'm doing something wrong?

Hi Mosart,
The image is processed and rendered on the server machine, later the IMG elements in the report's HTML request the resources from the server.
Please inspect the rendered HTML and the image that can be retrieved by URL written in the HTML. Inspect the style inheritance if external CSS is transforming the image. Also verify that the browser's Zoom is 100%.
If this is a PictureBox item, test how the different Sizing options affect the rendered HTML - ImageSizeMode enumeration.

There is no zooming in the browser, and the image is accessible directly via URL.
Note: Looks like the report designer reduces the size of the image used as cell background-image. I had to use an image editor to enlarge the image. I also have other images in the report (as inserted images, not table cell background), and they show up properly.
Not sure if I should give up on cell images and use a font character to replace it.

Font characters cannot be used, unless there is a TrueType font installed on the server machine that can produce the images.
Please serialize the report definition and save it as TRDX file. Then check how it is displayed in the Standalone Report Designer. Then test to load the report in web preview via UriReportSource. If the problem is reproducible, please post the XML of the produced TRDX file.

I created a sample test report file with a single table, just to test the scenario in a simplified setup. Same results.
Please find attached 2 files. The preview shown by the Report Designer and the html5 report viewer.
In the html5 report viewer, I only set it (from code behind) to be visible, and run a full postback (not ajaxified - couldn't get that to work)

when the image is used as a TextBox.Style.BackgroundImage it looks enlarged in browser. If we replace the TextBox item with a PcitureBox item with PictureBox.Sizing=Normal, the image is processed correctly with standard 96dpi settings:

I plan to change the image according to a condition, for each table row.
Question: In your scenario (using a picturebox) would you suggest that two images are added, and one of them hidden with conditional format?
I can't think of another way to condition the image shown.

Hi Mosart,
The problem with the background image is that the HTML rendering does not process additionally the image and it is displayed in its actual size. If you use the PictureBox item, it has a Sizing property allowing you to scale the image. The solution is to use an image considered with the size of the item, preferably with 96dpi settings, or switch for a PcitureBox item.
About changing the image, you can use a binding to the PictureBox.Value property or an expression that changes the image directly in the Value property e.g.:
The above uses conditional function. You can apply also a custom function.
