Hi Steve,
We are still finalizing all of the licensing and pricing details for the official release of Kendo UI, including how Kendo UI will be offered to existing Telerik customers. These details should be available in the next few weeks, and we'll be sure to publish full clarification on how Kendo UI and other Telerik products interact (from a licensing perspective).
Sorry I can't share more at this time. Stay tuned, though. All will be detailed soon.
At the most basic level, I can say that Kendo UI will available for both commercial and open source projects under a dual-license model. So definitely play with the beta and share your feedback; we'll have a license for all projects this winter.

Hey Todd,
Here's my concern...I have a media player which is asp.net based, but the content is all fed via JSON from an Alfresco resposity...so the JSON nature SCREAMS kendo at me.
So I don't want to refactor out a bunch of asp.net ajax stuff to then not be able to use Kendo because it's not "Ultimate" :)
**NOTE** Stylebug: the Reply\Update buttons on this form when the opacity changes on hover (in FF5) the "LI" disc is faintly visible still to the right of the text.

Hello Steve,
That makes perfect sense. While the final details are still not available, it is more than likely that the Kendo UI web widgets will be part of the Telerik bundles. Let us dot some i's and cross some t's and then we'll lay out the full licensing plan.
In the short term, please feel free to start working with the Kendo UI beta without fear that it will be unavailable to you. If JavaScript/JSON development is in your future, Kendo UI is definitely the toolset you want to work with.
Hope that helps.

I also have a similar fear - I have a project that would be a perfect chance to learn and use Kendo UI. However we are looking at a possible October Release. Would this be available for deployment in a commercial application by then? If not would we be able to work out an interim licensing scenario?
Thanks,
Adam

@Adam;
There is a new video in the blog section. At the end of the video, it says it's release time is around November.
Hope this helps!

I'm starting to build a website for my company and I'm already using KendoUI as my UI platform.
KendoUI pricing can come as a big negative surprise....I guess I should stop using it immediately....

Hi Paulo,
As said previously in this thread, the details about the Kendo UI pricing and licensing will be disclosed with the official v1 release of the product, due in November.
So far I can tell you that the pricing options will be competitive with the rest of the commercial JavaScript libraries on the market, and there will be an open source license available, distributed under the GPL license provisions.
Best regards,
Sebastian
