Hi Flemming,
We will update the online demo with the Silverlight 2 versions of the existing controls in a couple of days, but a public download (CTP) most probably will be available, when Silverlight 2 Beta 2 is released (as far as I know, it is scheduled for the beginning of the summer). If our plans change, I will post additional information in this forum immediately. I apologize for our inability to provide you with a download of our controls at the moment.

Valeri,
During the web demo and shortly thereafter, it was promised that a pre-release of the Silverlight tools would be made available at the time Microsoft released the Beta in March.
Is Telerik now representing that this was a false statement? Many of us in the community have been waiting for this, and now that the day arrives, the story changes.
Commitments should be honored, especially since Telerik has had such a good relationship with the community. I hope this statement is in error.

Hello Steven, According to Scott Gu's blog post it will be available in Q1 2008 and I think the release will most probably coincide with the MIX conference in March. Sincerely yours, Chris the Telerik team Instantly find answers to your questions at the new Telerik Support Center |

Hello Scott Francis, Yes - there will be a MediaPlayer control, but it is not in our list for the first version. We will first release the controls that allows you to create business applications in Silverlight. For the moment, please use the MediaPlayer control that we have for Silverlight 1.0 version. All the best, Valentin.Stoychev the Telerik team Instantly find answers to your questions at the new Telerik Support Center |

It seems that Telerik already announced their commitments back when the web demo was done. It is important now, to not attempt to re-write history, and just execute on the plan already in place. Your competitors aren't waiting for another release before they release beta tools for developers to begin to work with. The idea that now, after the fact, you wish to come out with a formal statement, seems strange. This has already been done. Why the backtrack?

I have trust in Telerik to keep their promises.
We really looked forward to see the control suite coming in march – and as Steven stated, the competitors is not standing still.

Thank you. We are moving forward and are hoping Telerik keeps their commitment to the community. Telerik should be pleased to see the exitement.
The competitors will have their releases ready for test within the next week or so....
Now it's time to wait and see...

Hi All,
Thank you for your interest in our controls for Silverlight.
We had some internal discussions here at Telerik about how to proceed with our Silverlight offering.
We decided that the process of delivering the controls will be on 2 stages. First, we will deliver a couple of controls at the end of April with our ASP.NET Futures release.
The beta release (the second stage) will include a dozen of controls and is scheduled for our Q2 release in the middle of July.
That said we want to make sure that we will deliver the best component suite for Silverlight. If you need to taste the latest bits before their official delivery date, please open a support ticket describing the application you want to build and the controls you need, and we will include you in our early access program for Silverlight.
Let us know what you think!

Hello,
I thought that controls showed in Telerik's demo would be in first beta, what do you mean by a couple of controls ?
July is far far away but I think there is no choice :/

Hi Skypy,
The april release will include controls that are more ASP.NET related and are ready to use directly into an existing ASP.NET page. That is why they will be part of the ASP.NET Futures release. The controls that will be released are:
RadUpload
RadMediaPlayer
RadCube
and also there will be a new dialog in RadEditor for inserting Silverlight content.
BTW: What application you want to develop NOW with the Silverlight platform? What are the major controls that you need? Do you think that the platform is mature enough so you can start developing with Silverlight?
Let us know - your feedback will be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Sincerely yours,
Valentin.Stoychev

For a first beta I would like to have RadMenu (and RadTabStrip would be useful), so I could build a main interface with it.

Microsoft has released a "go-live" license for Silverlight 2.0 so I definitely feel comfortable delivering a solution in this platform. We have a couple applications that we are working on right now, one involves large uploads so that one is important to us. The other is the ability to annotate images/proofs. We plan on using a variety of controls and I can definitely go into more detail if you are interested. We are a .NET shop and were about to go down the flash/flex route till the latest announcements at Mix.
