At our website (https://www.mymidlandmortgage.com/), we are having a minor issue with IE7 and IE8. When users hover over the top menu repeatedly, the dropdowns slowly widen. The dropdown width is only reset after a page reset.

To see a demonstration, go to the website and hover over a menu item (say, My Loan) and then hover over a second menu item (My Profile). Repeat this step at least five times. You'll notice that the dropdown menus are now noticably wider, and they will continue to grow if you continue to repeat the step.

I have only seen this issue in IE7/IE8. As of the last time I looked, I could not reproduce this issue in Chrome 10, Firefox 3.6, Firefox 4, and Safari 5.

We are using RadControls 2010 Q3.

Please let me know what other details you need to help diagnose this problem.

(The previous message was posted under a shared account at my workplace. This is actually my question.)

Still need advice on what sort of code to provide. Again, you can reach our production website and witness the error easily, provided you use IE7/IE8 (possibly 9 also). Due to the nature of what we have, I have not yet provided the menu code split out. Nor have I attempted to recreate the error in a menu-only project.

Barring that, can someone provide the location of the code in the RadMenu that determines dropdown width? I am trying to avoid investing the time it would take to find that.

Hello Ken,

Can you please open a support ticket and send us a simple runnable project that demonstrates the issue that you encounter, so we can inspect it thoroughly and see what is causing the problem? Can you also specify the version of the controls that you are using? Meanwhile I would also suggest that you take a look at the following help article that provides detailed description of the different css classes that are applied to the control.

Kind regards,
Kate

I've got a small test project ready to go for you. Unfortunately, I cannot put it on our production environment to send to you, and I cannot attach it. How can I send it to you?

We are using Telerik.Web version 2010.3.1317.35.

Hi Ken,

Thank you for your reply. I already answered in the ticket that Dan Hardin sent to us with the included project. To avoid any further confusion and since the issue is really customized one, please let us continue the communication in the ticket.

Best wishes,
Kate

I've solved the issue. I was applying padding to the .rmLink item using em units. Switching this to pixel widths (or moving the padding to another level) solved the issue.

I have not inspected the scripting to determine why this happened. Are there any known issues with measuring widths when em units are used in IE7?

Hello Dan,

Currently we are not aware of such issues related to the widths when em units are used in IE7.
