Straight to each question:
1 - will 2012.3.1308.40 work for 4.5 framework?
- it should because our assemblies are standard .NET assemblies, so an application targetting .NET4.5 should be backwards compatible and be able to reference assemblies built against .NET4. Note, however, that you will not be able to benefit from new features with our controls such as model binding in this case.
2 - do we need to do any upgrade steps?
- it should not be necessary, if your application has been working against .NET4 and you have successfully upgraded the standard ASP components, our controls should not need further steps.
3 - do we need to purchase a new licence if 2012.3.1308.40 does not support 4.5 framework?
- It is not necessary, yet I would strongly advise that you upgrade to the latest version to get the new .NET4.5 features and support for the latest browsers (IE11, Chrome 32, etc.) as well as all the new controls, improvements and fixes we have added.
