I am trying to deploy the RadEditorMoss 4.5.4 version to a sharepoint farm.  The farm has 2 web front ends with the cenrtral admin on one of the web front ends.

I can successfully add the solution to the farm, but when I try and deploy the solution to my web application I get the following error.

server1 : http://server1:22659/ : SharePoint - 22659 : Error: The copying of this file failed: RadControls/Editor/Localization/en-US/Tools.xml.
This operation uses the SharePoint Administration service (spadmin), which could not be contacted.  If the service is stopped or disabled, start it and try the operation again.
server2 : http://server1:22659/ : SharePoint - 22659 : Error: The copying of this file failed: RadControls/Editor/Skins/Default/Dialogs/ImgExt/asf.gif.
This operation uses the SharePoint Administration service (spadmin), which could not be contacted.  If the service is stopped or disabled, start it and try the operation again.

I have ensured that the Aministration service is running. And also have it running with an account with admin privilages on both web fronts ends.
I have noticed that it failes when trying to copy different files, but always fails on some file.

Just as a test I have also deployed the full RAD Moss RadEditorMOSS_5_2_3_Trial.  That solution deployed successfully.  There seems to be a problem specifically with this wsp.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Joe,

Please, see the following help article on the subject: Installing RadEditor in a MOSS 2007 farm. It provides guidance on how to install Telerik RadEditor for MOSS on your SharePoint 2007 farm.

Error in the link above, should probably point to: Installing RadEditor in a MOSS 2007 farm but this installation guide does not address this problem.

I have a 3 server farm (1 application server and 2 WFE and about 15 different sites to deploy to) an experience the exact same problem as Joe.

I get my things running but it takes a very long time to deploy, these are my steps (running from the application server):

  1. Add the solution with stsadm -o addsolution -filename radeditormoss.wsp
  2. Deploy the solution from Central Admin. Usually it deploys fine on 2 of the servers (application + random WFE) but it fails almost every time with the same error as Joe stated above but with different files, on one of the WFE.
  3. I then have to run deploysolution via STSADM on each and every web application in the farm: stsadm -o deploysolution -url http://mywebapplication -name radeditormoss.wsp -immediate -allowgacdeployment -allowcaspolicies -force. I alternate this command with stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs and a iisreset on the failing server. Usually i have to do this a couple of times on each web application before it finally goes through with a success!

Would appreciate any help in this matter!
