I'm using the Document Manager to paste links into my Rich Text field, which works great.  However, if I turn on the "Document Manager" text for the button (so that it makes more sense to the end user), it no longer works.  Rather than getting a new link when I choose a document and click Insert (after the first link insertion), the existing link is highlighted and the new link is not added.

Hello Marc,

Can you please clarify what exactly do you mean by "turn on the "Document Manager" text for the button"? I am not quite sure what the problem is, but generally speaking when you insert a document in RadEditor, you insert a link to that resource with the text of the link set as the file's name.
The second time that you click on that document's link and try to update the Url, the text will stay the same and only the actual href link will be changed. This is expected behavior - the Editor cannot know if the user manually changed the text of the link and that is why it only updates the href property.

For convenience I've attached to this thread a small movie that shows this in action. Is this your scenario?

Sorry I wasn't clearer in my description.  What I was referring to was the case where I changed the line:
<tool name="DocumentManager" />
to
<tool name="DocumentManager" showtext="true" />
in my ListToolsFile.XML.

When I make this change, the insertion for new links after the first one does not work.

Let me know if you need more information.

Hi Marc,

I've tried several tests with document manager with enabled test but everything seems to be working as expected. Can you please check the movie and let me know if I am missing something?

Your movie certainly looks fine.  I just tested again and I can reproduce this consistently.  I'm using a client-provided laptop (for security reasons), and it is running W2K and IE6.  If  I add the showtext="true" parameter, every time I try to add a new link, the first link in the existing list is highlighted and the new link is not added, no matter where in the existing content my cursor is positioned before the insert.  Very strange.

Hi Marc,

This is very strange but to our regret at this point we cannot tell what might cause this behavior as we cannot reproduce it. Can you please try the same scenario from a different machine? It is possible that the problem is local to the one that you are using.

I had our client test it on their machine, and they got the same results.  The W2K (5.00.2195, SP4), IE6.0.2800 config is the standard build for our client, so I expect that everyone will see the same behavior.

My client has created a movie of the behavior, but it is almost 8Mb and doesn't ZIP well.  If you'd like me to send it to you somehow, let me know.

Hi Marc,

You can open a new support ticket and attach the zipped movie there. If you experience problems with sending the ticket, send it directly to support[AT]telerik[DOT]com and add a link to this forum thread for reference.
