Hi,
We are currently in the process of evaluating Kendo UI Data VIZ.
One feature we are looking for is the chart navigator (zoom) pane.
Unfortunately , It looks like it exists only in the Stock Chart but not in the "regular" chart.
We would like to use a line / area / Column/ Combination chart which contain non date x-axis with navigator pane.
Can I expect this feature in the near future.

Thx
Sagi

Hello Sagi,

The chart support zoom and drag events. Can you examine this online demo and tell me if you have any problems?

Kind regards,

In the Demo link I can't see any navigator.
What I need is a simple Bar / Line ./ Area chart (x-axis are no date type) with navigator / Zoom area.
When mentioning the drag + zoom capabilities , Did you meant I can implement such a chart ?
Do you have an example ?

Thx
Sagi

Hello Sagi,

Unfortunately this functionality is not available for the Stock Chart and you can't combine the Chart with navigator but we will consider adding it.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.

Hi,
Since we are currently evaluating chat components I would like to know if your decision to add such a capability will take place soon.
We actually dont need this feature right away since our release date is about 6 months away.
However it is crucial for us to understand if this feature will be available some time along your releases (this feature can be either built in the chart or you can give us a way to implement it with 2 charts)

Thx
Sagi

Hello Sagi,

Could you give me more information about your specific scenario? May be peace of your data or picture or something that I can examine, because I think that we can prepare a solution for your requirements.

we have a large amount of data (>1000 data points) we want to display in a single chart.
Currently its not realistic to present this amount of data with a chart with no navigator (or scroll) area. The navigator technique allows the users to see the entire data (or even just the trend) on a small chart (navigator chart) and to focus on the areas this interested in
Thx

Hi Sagi,

I apologize for the late replay - we were short on staff.

Until the next release I can't give you any direction of this solution. I think that we will move the navigator outside of the chart but I am not 100% sure about that.

That would be great, we are highly interested in this.

I completely second this! I'm in great need of a time navigator, and I'm faced with the reality that I might have to use Silverlight to get it. But, due to SL's imminent demise,, I'm not keen on going that direction. Even if I did, that's not a solution for mobile, so here's to hoping it's in the upcoming release!

Hi Hristo,
The Navigator by itself would be a very valuable tool. I'd like to attempt to hook it up to a video player. Is it possible to disable the main candlestick chart and hook the selector events to set timestamps in the video player?

After some more work, I was able to remove the main (candlestick) stock chart from the Stock Chart "Multiple Panes" demo to try to get the Navigator to work with video, but it seems that the smallest unit of time that works correctly is 1 minute. I altered demo data to come up with this:
1 Minute or Less test
http://jsbin.com/onecez/2/edit
And it seems that the Zoom event (Mousewheel) handles time in seconds or less but it's not reliable with units less than a minute.

I know it's a Stock Chart, but that Navigator is very cool. Modifying a range slider to add a series of chart data would be a lot of work, so if you can help me get seconds (or milliseconds) out of this bad boy, I'd appreciate it!

Hello Jim,

I am afraid that currently this feature is not supported and I can't offer you a workaround. We will definitely consider it for our future releases.
Please excuse us for the inconvenience.

Hi Jim,

Fantastic work with the Navigator! It's amazing that something so useful (and logical) can be done but yet it hasn't. From my experience, "We will definitely consider it for our future releases" means don't hold your breath, so I'm glad that somebody is taking this on.

I'm new to Kendo, so I'm afraid I won't be much help right away in offering you suggestions for making this work with seconds. But, if you wouldn't mind, I'm sure everyone here would really appreciate any updates you can give on your progress. As soon as I have something worthy to input, I certainly will. If I could, I'd give you some of my Telerik points for your effort, or at the very least, buy you a beer! Even in its 'non-supported' state, this will work great for our purpose.

Keep up the great work!

Kind Regards,

I am also looking for line chart with zoom, pan, and navigator capabilities built-in.
Please update this thread when Kendo has this functionality.
