To achieve that you will have to edit the template of the DatePicker with Expression Blend. Just drop a DatePicker control on the design surface, right-click it and choose from the menu Edit Template-> Edit a Copy
. Then Blend will generate all the needed resources and templates. Follow the steps in order to reach the correct template to edit:
1. Click on Object->Edit Additional Styles->Edit CalendarStyle->Edit Style
2. Then again Object->Edit Additional Styles->Edit DayButtonStyle->Edit Style
3. After that choose again the Object menu->Edit Template->Edit Current
4. Now, find the SelectionChrome
element, right click it and choose from the menu Edit Template->Edit a Copy
This element is a ButtonChrome
control and you will have to edit its VisualStates in order to change its colour. Please refer to this
KB article in which is explained how you can do that. You can also check out this
forum post in which is discussed how to edit the MenuItems, but they use also the ButtonChrome control, so you might find the short video very useful.
