From what I have read it sounds like I need to write a custom provider to access folders or shares that are not directly under my web application. Is that right?
All the examples I found for custom providers were talking to a database. If this is the case, are there any examples for a File System?

Hello Kenneth,
The path format that you use is the correct one and you should not experience any problems using the provided content provider. Could you please check whether the files/folders can be browsed by directly opening the path in Windows Explorer?
