Two Spell Checker Problems

Two issues, one minor, one MAJOR.

I discovered both of these while trying to post on the forum.

    First: (minor)

When the message entered is longer than the height of the editor itself, the scroll bar appears on the right correctly. However, when you click ABC to spell check, the scroll bar and the text area are shifted down by the "Spell checking mode" box. This results in the inability to view the last two lines of text in the editor b/c of the shift.

    Secondly: (major)

I was typing this message, and in attempt to recreate the problem. I typed a whole bunch of random text ("aasdf" and the like) and then clicked ABC. Obviously it found errors. I clicked the Cancel button on the "Spell checking mode" box. I then deleted the garbage text and started typing this message. I had very little text written when I clicked ABC again. I got an alert that said "No mistakes found." However, to my surprise, all of the text that I had typed was now gone, and replaced with the garbage text I had just erased.

I tried replicating this again and got the same error. I then tried replicating it with a typo in the new text and the spell check functioned normally.

I hope you can replicate this and get it resolved.

Let me know if you have questions.

    Thanks and Happy New Year!

I will jump on Oleg's post rather than start another to address these errors as they appear in the forums.

The first issue Oleg mentioned was what I sought to report. In the forums (and presumably everywhere else), using ajax spell in editor causes the last two lines of content to be "below" the editor content window (and thus inaccessible). The issue is minor, but it is also very annoying.

I went ahead and tested his second observation and reproduced it in the forum editor just as he described. It is very major and I hope a hotfix is prepped for this issue before SP1 due later this month.

Finally, ajax spell in editor still seems to fail to scroll the editor if the misspelled word is out of view. It had been reported that this was fixed in the final Q4 release, but I still observe the issue in the forums. Hopefully this will be addressed soon, too.

I love the ajax spellcheck, we just need to give it some more polish.

    Thanks~

    Hello,

Someone from Telerik may want to read this post. These issues are rather large and need to be resolved.

    Thanks,
    Oleg Fridman

    Hi Oleg, Todd,

Thank you for your feedback. Indeed these problems are serious ones and we will do our best to fix them for the next service pack that will appear next week.  We have already fixed the first minor problem that you report.

    Kind regards,
