Overview

You know how convenient the sliding bar in your media player is. You can achieve the same user experience pattern in your web app. Whether you want to select a value from a defined range or define a range with the 2-drag handles, use the smooth or step-based Telerik Slider control for ASP.NET AJAX. The control is completely customizable in terms of appearance and offers plethora of configuration options like orientation, ticks functionality, click offset, mouse wheel support, etc.

Slider Elements
The Telerik ASP.NET Slider control was designed to be as simple as possible and consists of the following elements:
- Increase handle: Increases the value of the slider by a single step.
- Selected region: Visualizes the selected range.
- Drag handle: Changes the value of the slider by dragging the handle with the mouse.
- Track: Visualizes the slider and changes its value when clicked.
- Decrease handle: Decreases the value of the slider by a single step.

Flexible Behavior Customization
- Setting Value and Range – You can control the position and value behavior of the Telerik ASP.NET Slider control by setting MinimumValue, MaximumValue, Value and ClickOffset properties. MinimumValue and MaximumValue set the lower and upper bounds that Value can be, Value is the current position of the slider and ClickOffset controls the amount of increment or decrement caused by a mouse click on the slider.

- Layout - Depending on your need RadSlider can be displayed horizontally or vertically on the page by setting the Orientation property.

- Handles - the slider layout can be customized using one of the handle properties that control which slider handles will be displayed – Increase Handle, Decrease Handle or Drag Handle.
- Click Offset - You can define the change in value of the distance, at which the slider will jump slider when the user clicks on the track. In its default mode, the slider will automatically scroll to the value which has been clicked by the user.

2-drag Handles Support for Range Sliders

Users can now build superior applications with the Telerik ASP.NET AJAX Slider thanks to the newly-implemented 2-drag handles functionality. The latter is suitable for scenarios when a range rather than a value is needed. You can see the initial values for each drag-handle using the SelectionStart and the SelectionEnd properties. Numerous configuration options are available.

Slider Animation

You can create smooth slide animations to a specified point without any browser interference. The animation duration is defined in milliseconds.

Mouse Wheel Support

Grabbing and dragging can be annoying at times, so that’s why mouse wheel support could be a very nice alternative. When users move the mouse wheel over the slider, its default value the will change. That value will increase/decrease with one SlideStep, which is again configurable.
