Q1 2012 Roadmap

In 2012 we will continue to add key controls and features to RadControls for Silverlight. Among the new controls will be components like GanttView, PivotGrid and Diagrams. Throughout the last year there was a demand for this type of new functionality and therefore we started working on it some time ago. There are plenty of other major initiatives we already started and the results of them will start to appear later this year.

With Q1, due in February, we plan to announce several new and important controls.

New Developments

• TimeLine Official: The TimeLine control enables you to visualize sequence of events and timelines in a user friendly manner. You can represent various occurrences like biographical data, historical events, or any other story you need to represent in a timeline format over a specified period of time. The first official version will allow intuitive visualization, lightweight scrolling and easy navigating. It will also support intervals, zoom and rich set of events.


• ChartView Official: The ChartView enables you to build more powerful visualizations. With the last official release (Q3 2011) we announced the beta version of this new control. Q1 2012 will mark the official version of the component with tons of new and improved features including better MVVM support, Multiple Axis support for Cartesian charts, new axis plot mode for financial charts and many more.


• GanttView Beta: GanttView will empower you to visualize and manage hierarchical project data in a MVVM friendly way. The control is built with performance in mind taking advantage of data and ui virtualization to achieve fast scrolling and navigation through thousands of items. With the GanttView control you’ll be able to visualize different item types like regular tasks, milestones, summaries and the relations between these items.


• Diagrams Beta: The main objective of the Diagramming solution will be to provide a framework (Controls and APIs) to ease the creation of diagramming and rich data visualizations. In the first Beta of the framework you can expect a lot of features that will allow you to easily create Organizational, Class and Flow diagrams, as well as many others.


• DataBars (ScoreCards) Official: DataBars are a graphic representation of various indicators, such as KPIs. For example you can display graphic indicators that visually convey the overall success or failure of an organization in its efforts to achieve a particular goal. The DataBars can be based on a collection of key performance indicators (KPIs), each of which represents an aspect of organizational performance.


• New Integration Demos: New Sales/Executive Dashboard demos will showcase the next generation of rich data visualization achieved with RadControls for WPF. Theming, real-time customization and a dashboard structure that follows the industry’s best practices will ensure that data is displayed in meaningful and engaging manner.
