You know what a service pack release is for – bug fixes of reported issues, as well as some small new features/improvements planned for the next official release that we just can’t wait to ship to you.
This service pack release of the RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX is nothing different. We continue to clean up the bug backlog and you can see the full list of what we’ve implemented over the past month and a half in the release notes.
Let’s get to the most interesting part now ;)
The Async Upload has whole 4 new features itself. You can hide the input now, if you prefer to have the “Select” button only, like in our new demo here. A new client-side event, OnClientFileDropped is available for you to perform last tweaks and validation before the file is dropped and ready for upload. On the server you can get the value for the last modified date of the file. And last but not least, the “Drop files here” text is now localizable.
The AutoCompleteBox now has:
The ComboBox has only one new thing for you, but I’m sure you’ll be happy to have it. A new property enables auto-calculation for the dropdown width yeeah ;)
The rest of the components that got new stuff are the Editor, the FileExplorer, the RibbonBar and the Scheduler controls. But instead of retelling it all, I’ll leave some things for you to find in the release notes.
Mobile support is getting better. RadMenu and RadTabStrip have better support for scrolling on mobile devices, as well as RadWindow under iOS6 when NavigateUrl is used for loading content.
RadScheduler now has client-side validation for the AdvancedForm fields in WebService binding mode.
RadAsyncUpload validates files extensions on the server side in addition to the current client-side validation. Since Q3 2012 SP1 you will also be able to set your own encryption key with a single web.config setting.
Here you go: release notes, online demos, download trial. And don’t forget to share your feedback with us below.
