Every aspect of the Grid for Windows 8 XAML has been built from the ground-up to deliver maximum performance and native look and feel for the Windows Store. RadGrid is not a quick port from another platform, every single line of code has been carefully written to optimize the behavior and performance on modern touch devices. The advanced UI virtualization brings top performance and makes the grid fast, fluid and responsive, capable to process hundreds of thousands of records, even on low-end Windows 8 devices.
The DataStorage provider enables support for scenarios that otherwise would cost valuable development time as it connects our Windows 8 Grid with the DataStorage framework. This framework is built on-top of the SQLite engine with its core engine written in C++ and optimized for the mobile world. Our solution, however, is not a mere SQLite wrapper. It adds simple ORM features, support for LINQ to SQL, Indices, Async and automatic schema inference.
The DataStorage provider in DataGrid enables your application users to perform data operations right from the user interface of RadGrid seamlessly reflecting in the DataStorage component all changes that have been made by the user.
Your users can now update data in the Grid itself. In-place editing of data in the Grid is built into the control, so you don’t need to do any complicated event handling or UI manipulation to give your users an excellent experience right out of the box.
Cell or Row, Single or Multiple – all selection modes are available. As with the rest of RadGrid’s features, a specific selection mode can be enabled with a single property.

The Telerik Grid for Windows 8 XAML supports built-in grouping which can be enabled with a single property. Your users will be able to group data by simply moving a column header to the dedicated grouping panel. To additionally highlight the group headers, you can customize them via the group-header-template. The rich API of the control allows you to easily define groups in the code-behind. Last but not least, you can use the Aggregation API to get summary about each group. Available are various known functions (Sum/Min/Max/Average, etc.), but the developer can also implement custom functions. Enjoy top performance in any complex group scenarios.
