Are you running multiple concurrent projects with a limited amount of resources? TeamPulse will let you display all the work items from all projects together, and prioritize each work item against the cumulative backlog. This way, your team will always have a clear idea about which are the items they have to work on next.
Handling complex planning scenarios is easy thanks to the rich variety of user story properties. Use criteria like areas, tags, maturity, value and many more to define the priority of each item as accurately as possible. When the time for planning comes you can filter by one or many of the properties you have set.
On the 'Release Planning' screen you can see your backlog along with your future releases and the capacity for each release. Simply drag and drop work items to the appropriate release. The dynamic capacity indicator will show if you are over or under capacity.
To determine team capacity more accurately and make sure you are not overloading the team, use the Velocity report. It looks at past iterations and shows how much work the team was able to accomplish.
To gauge the quality of your planning and better manage expectation, use the Planned vs. Completed report. It compares the planned work against the work actually delivered for one or more past iterations.
