Q3 2011 Service Pack 1 of RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX
Released on January 6, 2012 Among the highlights are:
- Common for all controls: the jQuery library used in Telerik.Web.UI is updated to version 1.7.1
- AsyncUpload adds hover state for the select button
- RadGrid now features a client-side clearSort() method to clear the applied sorting for a specified column and a client-side clearFilter() method for clearing the filter of a column. The control also features improved support for Telerik OpenAccessLinqDataSource
- RadInput adds HTML5 InputType "time" for RadTextBox
- RadRibbonBar adds a new findItemByAttribute() client-side method for RadRibbonBar, RibbonBarTab, and RibbonBarGroup
- RadScriptManager now features script grouping (via Groups)
- RadTreeList adds new TreeListColumn.HeaderToolTip property for setting tooltip for the column header

What's New in RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX in Q3 2011
Released on November 16, 2011 The Q3 2011 release of RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX brings in two new controls, RadSocialShare and the long-awaited RadOrgChart, and marks the official introduction of the new Metro UI skin. Among the other highlights of the release are enhanced mobile devices support, great grouping performance optimizations for RadGrid, several new RadRibbonBar features, as well as improvements across the entire suite. Features Spanning All Controls
Separate Skin Assembly
As announced in Q2 2011, in order to optimize the size of the Telerik ASP.NET AJAX assembly we created a separate skin assembly, Telerik.Web.UI.Skins.dll. Last Q the skins assembly only contained the four newly-introduced skins, but starting with this release, it will contain all ASP.NET AJAX skins except for the default one.

Metro UI Skin
You can now easily style your ASP.NET AJAX applications with the look and feel of Windows 8 thanks to the new Metro UI skin officially joining the suite with Q3 2011. Currently you only have the option to use the Blue version of the Metro skin, but within the next couple of weeks, five more variations will be available on Telerik’s Skin Sharing Portal – Green, Lime, Magenta, Orange and Red.
E-commerce Sample Application
Over the last Q, we worked on extending the E-commerce application Telerik Solutions Consultant Carl Bergenhem built during the “Building Modern ASP.NET AJAX Applications” webinar series. OData Support for Navigation Controls
The Q3 2011 release marks the introduction of codeless OData binding support for Telerik’s ASP.NET AJAX navigation controls, RadMenu, RadTreeView, RadComboBox and RadListBox.

Drag-and-drop Support on Touch-enabled Devices
As usual, we continue to put effort into helping you deliver applications that leverage the latest and greatest industry trends. This is why, with touch-enabled devices gaining more and more popularity, this Q we are introducing drag and drop support for our ASP.NET AJAX Grid, ListView, TreeList, TreeView and Scheduler controls.
Design-time Improvements
New feature in Telerik’s ASP.NET AJAX controls is also the ability to auto-attach client event handlers by selecting a new or existing handler method for this purpose in VS 2008/2010.

RadSocialShare
Everybody knows that the easier you make it for visitors of your website to share your content, the more likely they are to spread the news among friends and make your projects more popular. Telerik’s new control, RadSocialShare, provides you with this functionality out of the box. In addition to supporting different social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, as well as supporting “share via email” functionality, it also features full Google Analytics tracking support to allow you to measure results.

Enhancements to Existing Controls
Grid
In Q3 2011Telerik’s ASP.NET AJAX Grid adds group header/footer templates. Other great news for the control is the substantial grouping performance optimizations it ships with. The new grouping mechanism features incredible performance gains in scenarios with large data sources, containing thousands or millions of records. In some cases the performance boost results in two to five times better loading times!

RibbonBar
Telerik’s ASP.NET AJAX RibbonBar control adds several highly-requested by you features, such as contextual tabs, quick access toolbar and very neat keyboard support. See demos
Editor
In Q3 2011 RadEditor adds another out-of-the-box dialog, Insert External Video, which allows you to easily add and configure how the YouTube or Vimeo video will be visualized and played in the Editor content area. See demo
