Sprint Social, by Click Innovate, is the first short distance running app that enables people to race friends anywhere, any time. Developed at Telerik Hackathon 2014, the app combines the proven benefits of short bursts of high intensity exercise with the motivation of exercising with friends. It activates via motion sensors in your iPhone and uses Apple's gait recognition to measure your run, eliminating privacy concerns associated with using a GPS. Available for free on iTunes, the app is compatible with iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the Apple Watch.
Since the Hackathon, Click Innovate has been developing Sprint Social, using plugins from Telerik to enable push notifications and social sharing features, as well as some custom plugins. The company plans to add more functionality, including the ability to configure distances, challenge multiple friends, and track stair racing and climbing.
“We would never have managed to build our prototype in time without the Telerik Platform and Telerik® verified plugins, and help from the Telerik team at the Hackathon,” said Lee Crossley, Co-founder of Click Innovate. “A similar custom backend written in node took us about five days, whereas we integrated with Telerik® Backend Services at the hackathon within a couple of hours.”
