  Hi,
  
  I am seeing the RAD controls repeated 3 times on my toolbar.  I have reset it twice but it does not help.  I can not tell if there is any difference between them, but I think they are the same, not different ones for SL3 of SL4.  How do I clear this up so that they are listed only once?  Thanks

  Hello Steve,
  
  The problem that you are experiencing is usually caused by invalid Toolbox cache which is created by Visual Studio. My suggestion is to clear this cache. Here are the steps that you have to perform:

  1. Close all Visual Studio instances
  2. Navigate to the following folder:
     • Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\[USER_NAME]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\VisualStudio
     • Windows Vista / 7 - %localappdata%\Microsoft\VisualStudio
  3. Depending on your Visual Studio version navigate to the following subfolder:
     • Visual Studio 2008 - \9.0
     • Visual Studio 2010 - \10.0
  4. Delete all .tdb files
  5. Start Visual Studio

  Hi, I've looked in the directory per the instructions, and there are no files with .tdb extension.

  Hi,
  
  You may want to post this as a possible fix. It is what I had to do to resolve this issue.  The toolbar was not only repeating the RAD controls 3 times, and failing to effect a reset.  It was also dragging VS 2010 to a crawl, eventually displaying an "Out of Memory" message on my 8GB machine.
  
  I had to delete the following Registry Entry:
  
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\Packages\{2c298b35-07da-45f1-96a3-be55d91c8d7a}
  
  I have attached the Data and Key values for it in a .txt file.  You would have to use REGEDIT (enter that in the 'Run' box, for those who have not done this before).  I recommend that you copy the Registry Entry (or backup it entirely as best practice) before making this change to the registry.
  
  It fixed the problem completely.  I was able to reset the toolbar, and then re-add the Telerik RAD controls in their own tab.  It's now fast as lightning (almost).

  Sorry for having you listed as Brandy, the webteam are checking this now.
  
  As per your fix, I'm glad this worked for you. Deleting the key of the ToolBoxControlsInstaller package is not recommended though, as Visual Studio could stop displaying the standard Toolbox Items.
  
  This registry key "tells" Visual Studio to use the package, handling the Toolbox item registration. If it does not exist, the addition of new toolbox items through the registry would fail (i.e. the tools of the component vendors such as Telerik won't get updated automatically).
  
  To my regret the occurrence of multiple Toolbox items is a problem we haven't been able to detect and fix so far, hence I don't have another suggestion.
  
  Just for analysis information: does a Toolbox Reset work fine on your environment with the key deleted? I mean, do you get all the standard and the Telerik tools?

  Yes, the toolbar includes all of the regular items, both .Net and Telerik.  It also is much faster, and the duplicates have stopped.  I do not have that problem on my home machine (Vista), but at work (WIN7) it was occurring.  I believe I can reset toolbar and get updates to the toolbar for Telerik, or use the Configure Toolbar to choose the version.  I am the only member on the team to use the Silverlight tools so far, but I have been told that they have a number of apps built using the various versions, and they need to keep that app using a particular version until we get the go ahead to upgrade it.
  
  I will keep an eye on it, but it seems to have fixed this issue.  As for my "Brandy" issue, I initially logged in using the account I was given, and that is why it was doing that.  I have created a new account so I can subscribe to the threads to my own inbox..
  
  I had another issue that has occurred, which I opened a thread for:  I am using the RAD Controls for Silverlight Courseware to learn the toolset, and when I got to the GridView (Chapt. 18), all of the samples except one were displaying a "Trial Version" message.  We have a site license for RAD Controls Ultimate, so this should not be happening.  I need this addressed quickly since I am going to use the GridView in several demos next week. I'm not trying to use 2 threads for the same issue, but I really do need this fixed.

  As per the trial message in the demos you need to resolve, could it be that you downloaded the trial installer of RadControls?
  RadControls have two types of distributions (and two installers respectively):
  
  A Trial one, which contains the Trial versions of the RadControls assemblies. It would display the Trial message sporadically. The Dev one would not contain the Trial logic and won't display messages.
  
  You could get the Dev assembly by either of the approaches:
  

  • Login as the purchase owner and download the RadControls installation through the Your Account -> Download and Manage your products
  • Login as the purchase owner and use the Your Account -> Download and Manage your products section to assign the user "Steve" as a license developer (the Manage Licensed Users link).

  The only time the message appeared was on the GridView Samples in Chapter 18 of the RAD Controls for Silverlight Courseware.  And one of them did not display the message.  It appears every time on those that it does.  None of the other controls so far thru chapter 17 displayed it, and I installed the version of RAD Controls Ultimate that the team uses.  Is it possible that this is just in the samples?

  Generally, the projects coming with the Silverlight Courseware use the Trial version of RadControls. May you verify what is the type of binaries (Dev or Trial) in the project you are referring to ? Furthermore, may you try to update the references towards your particular Dev assemblies ?

  I was having the same problems as the OP.  I deleted the *.tdb files and everything is now working correctly.

  I'm having this same problem and there are no tbd or tdb or whatever files in that directory either.  I followed the reg key thing and while that seemed to have worked, all of my Telerik items are missing now.  How do I get them back?  Fortunately, I DID save the reg delete so in theory I could go back to it.  But as the user before said, it brings VS to an absolute un-usuable crawl.  Help?

  I had no RadControls in Toolbox too. I followed those 17 steps from http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/aspnet-ajax/general-discussions/multiple-controls-in-toolbox-in-vs2010.aspx  but no results. I even did not have any Telerik keys in registry. What I did:
  I copied *.tbd files from Administrator account folder to my account folder and 
   clicked "Reset Toolbox" of "RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX Q1 2010 NET35" in toolbox context menu for Administrator and my account. I am not sure is it necessary to copy tbd files. I was trying to reset toolbox without results before but I clicked not Telerik toolboxes.
