    RadBook now supports virtualization

I am proud to announce that RadBook, along with RadGridView, RadTreeView, RadTreeListView, RadChart and RadScheduler, now supports virtualization. With previous versions, it would take up to 16 seconds to load 1000 pages, where now it takes just 2 seconds to load a set of 10,000,000 (10 million) items.   The cause of the performance boost is the way RadBook handles the unnecessary(non-visible) elements. As you probably know, while turning a page, only four pages are visible at any given moment in time. Previous versions of RadBook would just collapse the unnecessary elements, which had a significant impact on the initial loading time. The...

    March 01, 2010 Share
Download source code    I recently published a blog post series on the Silvelight Show site regarding Internationalization/Globalization in Silverlight. As a follow up to this series, I would like to address a couple of Telerik-specific approaches to this topic. One thing to note is that the source code that I have attached above is written in Silverlight 4, using VisualStudio 2010 Beta 2, so if you are developing with Silverlight 3 you could copy the code into a Silverlight 3 solution.  In part 5 of the Silverlight Show series I provided a step-by-step example of how to set up an internationalized version of a...

Silverlight Recruiting Application Part 2 - Prism, MVVM, and the Challenge

    February 25, 2010 Share
For anyone who tuned into part 1 of this series, there was an interesting comment from Ben (one of the Telerik MVPs who also shows up quite often with intelligent commentary in a variety of locations) about the idea of using Prism, MVVM, and WCF RIA together in their current state.  This actually fell in line with a number of other conversations I have had with developers over the last few weeks and I realized something very important- he's quite right about the state of things.  Much like 7 is the magic number for Windows, 4 is going to be the magic...
