Telerik OpenAccess ORM, MVC Extensions, and Dynamics!

    October 05, 2011 Share
While playing around with OpenAcces the other day, I wondered if it would be possible to have OpenAccess return a dynamic list, and if so, could I bind it to an MVC grid without specifying any columns names.  This could prove to be helpful in some reporting scenarios, where you just want the grid to output whatever a sproc, or query, returns.  This blog shows how to accomplish just that! Step 1 To accomplish this task we will be taking advantage of the ADO API we released in Q2 2011.  To start out I simply created an extension method for the OpenAccessContext, which...

Project Templates in Telerik OpenAccess ORM

    September 27, 2011 Share
As we mentioned in our recent post we added new project templates to Telerik OpenAccess ORM, making it easier than ever to get an application up and running. In this blog we will take a look at each of the new templates, see what they provide, and see how you can leverage them with other Telerik Components. Using the Templates These templates are for .NET 4.0; so when adding a new project make sure that .NET Framework 4 is selected in the drop down above the project template list. Bend Telerik OpenAccess ORM to Your Will With Type Converters – Part 1

    September 20, 2011 Share
In Q1 2011, Telerik OpenAccess ORM introduced a flexible type conversion system. This type conversion system allows developers to instruct OpenAccess on how to map types that it may not support out of the box. This feature makes it possible for OpenAccess to work with built in UDTs, such as SQL Spatial and XML, as well as any custom UDTs developers create. What is a User Defined Type? SQL Server 2005 introduced user-defined types (UDTs). UDTs extend the SQL type system by allowing you to store objects and custom data structures in a SQL Server database. UDTs can contain multiple data types...

    September 17, 2011 Share
On 12.09.2011 we released the so anticipated OpenAccess ORM internal build 2011.02.0908 that contained a few very important improvements and fixes for our customers: - Support for SQL Azure 11.x. After OpenAccess ORM Q2 2011 was released supporting the 10.5.x version of SQL Azure, Microsoft had started updating the SQL Azure data centers to use a new version (11.x) based on the Denali codebase. Some details for this update can be found in Richard Mitchell’s blog post as well as how it can affect third party tools in the MSDN Blogs. With the internal build we have introduced support for the latest version of SQL Azure,...

Telerik OpenAccess ORM - Configuring MSMQ for L2Cache usage

    August 23, 2011 Share
Telerik OpenAccess ORM uses Microsoft Message Queuing for (optional) synchronization of the L2Cache. The principal setup is described here. In some cases the default settings as described in the documentation are not sufficient. Having more than one network interface card In cases where you have more than on network interface card on the machine you are running the MSMQ, you might get into the problem, that the MSMQ doesn’t know which nic to use. In effect it starts to randomly use a nic. A message like this will appear in your event log. 1: Message Queuing found...
