My team has 2 applications using Telerik.UI.for.AspNet.Core, one is using v2020.3.1118 and the other is using v2021.1.119.  Each application up until now was worked on by 2 different developers, but now one developer has been assigned both applications.

The developer was originally working with v2020.3.1118 and has that installed on his machine via control panel.  Now that he has been assigned the application with v2021.1.119, he can't build it until he installs the new version via control panel.  The problem is that he has to uninstall the older version when the new version is installed (control panel seems to force this).

Is there something we are missing here, it seems odd to only allow one version to be installed at a time.  We cannot update the older version to the newer without triggering a full QA regression (both manual and automated) that takes several weeks to complete before it goes into our release pipeline.

Thanks

Hi Matt,

When installing a newer version Progress Control Panel uninstalls every previous one by default. To enable parallel installation, you have to check 'Keep previous parallel versions' checkbox under Control Panel Options. Please take a look at the attached image for a reference.

Only major releases can be installed in parallel so you can have 2020.3.1118 (R3 2020 SP2) and 2021.1.119 (R1 2021) installed in parallel.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Vera,

I was able to get both versions installed, but I am still unable to use the R12021 version in my application.  The R3 2020 (SP2) version is working as expected in the other application.  When I point the nuget package source to the newly installed version on my file system, Telerik.UI.for.AspNet.Core is not available for this source.  What am I doing wrong?

Hi Matt,

I guess that you have set the Source to the installation folder of Telerik UI for ASP.NET Core product. If that is correct, I would suggest adding the full path to Telerik.UI.for.AspNet.Core package:

..\Progress\Telerik UI for ASP.NET Core R1 2021\wrappers\aspnetcore\Binaries\AspNet.Core

It seems that Nuget Package Manager fails to find packages in case they are located in a subfolder deeper than one level from the folder set as Source.

Not sure I've had enough coffee yet to figure out a William Penn riddle. I'd prefer something a little more straight forward.
