Telerik UI for Blazor will fully support the upcoming .NET 9 previews. Our team is committed to ensuring compatibility and taking full advantage of the new features and improvements in .NET 9.

You may already be aware that Microsoft discontinued .NET 7 support in May 2024. We would like to inform you that our plans are in line with this decision, and we will be ending our .NET 7 support in November. This will give you extra time to transition from .NET 7 to .NET 8. By upgrading to the most recent version of .NET, you will leverage the latest features, performance enhancements, and security improvements offered by both Microsoft and Telerik. This upgrade will ensure that you can make the most of the cutting-edge advancements provided by both entities.

 

As the .NET ecosystem evolves, so do our services. We are sunsetting our NuGet v2 server at nuget.telerik.com/nuget in 2024. Please switch to the v3 server at nuget.telerik.com/v3/index.json for better performance, security, and reliability.

The steps to upgrade are simple and require only one change to your NuGet package source URL to https://nuget.telerik.com/v3/index.json

The PDFViewer will support Annotations and Form Filling, enhancing the utility and functionality of PDF documents. Annotations enable users to collaborate, review, and provide feedback, making them essential for communication and document editing. Form filling capabilities will make applications more versatile and user-friendly by allowing users to interactively fill out forms within PDF documents.

 

The Scheduler Component will now support a Toolbar Template, Resource Header Template, and Agenda View. These updates provide enhanced customization, improved resource display, and more efficient schedule management, making the component more versatile and user-friendly.

 

The new DockManager is a UI component that mirrors the dock functionality of desktop apps like Visual Studio. It allows docks to be moved, docked, or pinned within a web app interface. Featuring a dock management overlay, it enables easy repositioning of panes and automatically adjusts its layout in response to user actions.

We continue our efforts to improve the adaptive and responsive behavior of the Telerik UI for Blazor components. In our short-term plans, we will enhance the Data Grid, Toolbar, Pager, Window and Breadcrumb UI components so that their design and UX is seamless regardless of the device they are displayed.

Significant overhaul to our Figma UI Kits is on the way! Central to these updates is the introduction of a rich variables library, seamlessly integrated with our design system. This library includes dynamic color, spacing, and radii variables, ensuring consistency and flexibility across your designs. Additionally, we're enhancing our Typography and Elevation systems to provide even more design possibilities. Dark mode enthusiasts will rejoice as we introduce Dark mode options, complemented by common theme color swatches. Our file structure has been revamped for improved organization, making it easier than ever to find what you need. Stay tuned for the addition of new components, including updates aligned with MS Fluent 2. Detailed component descriptions and improved color contrast are planned later in the year. Get ready for a smoother, more efficient design workflow with our upcoming Kendo and Telerik UI kits for Figma upgrade!

Performance remains a key focus for us. Expect to see improvements in the DataGrid and virtualization support to additional components (TreeList, TreeView) aimed at delivering faster data handling and rendering. This step is a part of our ongoing effort to maintain Telerik UI’s leading edge in the world of UI component libraries.

We are introducing a new unified color system across all Kendo themes, ensuring a shared palette of colors. This enhancement will foster consistency and efficiency in styling across various themes, while also decreasing the size of theme files. In May 2024, the new  color system system will become default. Both color systems will be available until Q2 2025, giving you time to adapt at your own pace. For additional details, refer to our blog post.

 

We launched the new Telerik and Kendo UI design system documentation site containing resources, design assets and frontend documentation for Telerik and Kendo UI libraries.

Progress Design System site contains related design and frontend documentation for nearly 30 of the most essential components, and we aim to continuously expand it with the ultimate goal of providing everything you need to create intuitive and beautiful digital experiences and design systems based on Telerik and Kendo UI component libraries.

Our plan is to continuously enhance the design system documentation site throughout 2024 and allow you to easily build your own design system based on Telerik and Kendo UI components.

 

The interactive browser-based code runner for Blazor will be further enhanced with new features allowing you to seamlessly run, save and share your own Blazor code snippet.

In the 2024 releases, we remain committed to enhancing the accessibility of Telerik UI for Blazor components. This includes adhering to WAI-ARIA and Section 508 standards, aligning with the most recent WCAG guidelines, and offering comprehensive documentation, demonstrations, and resources focused on accessibility (A11Y).
