Hello and congrats for the great product!
I like the agility you can develop applications that look like native.
However every coin has two sides, so:
1.How can you push notifications to the users of an application?
2.What are the drawbacks of using Cordoba/Kendo instead of native applications? What limitations can I expect?

Hi Todor,
Thank you for your kind words. This kind of feedback keep us highly motivated that Icenium can bring a lot of value and solve a problem many of us have.
Now onto your questions:
1. Are you talking about Apple's push notifications or a third party service like Pushwoosh for example?
2. This is very good question, right on spot. You can check this blog post by D7 which shares more details about hybrid mobile applications and their strengths and weaknesses.

That is just great!
I think your 2nd answer gave me enough info to figure out the 1st one =)
It turns out, that if your app doesn't need ultra slick graphics (like for games),
hybrid is the right way to go!
I start to adore Icenium more and more. If only I know when the beta is targeted to finish.. =)

Pushwood seems nice, but there is also Urban Airship (http://urbanairship.com/) with the first 1M notifications for free.
It seems we need access to AndroidManifest.xml and include java files.
Would be very nice to have in Icenium. If not, we will be stuck with tools like Eclypse.

@J.D. Do you have some real experience with one of those push notifications providers? If so what do you like about them? What do you find missing?

No, not yet. If this would be supported in Icenium then I would postpone the release of the App to put push notifications in it.
I am working on an application that is a kind of catalog with new products. If I could push new products to the App that would be a nice addition.
Both push systems seem easy to implement.

Stefan, what about if I want to use my own solution that works with the Apple Google push servers, instead of Pushwoosh, Urban Airship or anything like that. Does Cordova have out of the box support for that or are there any good plugins?

Hi Lino,

Want some Kendo UI online training - head over to Pluralsight.
Unfortunately push notifications are not supported by Cordova out-of-the-box. This features is implemented by community plugins. We are working on adding support for more and more plugins. "Push notifications" is also in our backlog.
Currently we are not sure if people want generic support or some 3rd party service such as "Pushwoosh" or "Urban Airship". You can go and vote on our feedback portal here.
There is a item created for third-party services. There does not seem to be one for generic push notification support. You can create one for it.
Thank you for checking out Icenium.

Thank you Zammy
here is the feature request. The first link - https://feedback.telerik.com doesn't work, voted on the other feature request as well.
Can you recommend a plugin that I can use right now? We went through the trouble of fixing this in Titanium ourselves already and I'm surprised that such a basic scenario doesn't work out of the box.

Unfortunately Evgeni was wrong, there is a feedback item with 23 votes for Generic Plugin support here: https://feedback.telerik.com/Project/87/Feedback/Details/879-generic-phonegap-plugin-support
Please be sure to continue voting there and not in the new feedback item.
