We are currently developing a new Intranet using MOSS2007 and are trialling r.a.d.Editor (Free Lite MOSS Edition).

I am trying to customize the Paragraph Heading Styles (Heading 1, Heading 2, etc..) so that our own look and feel is used. For example: Heading 1 is to be Blue, Arial, size 14, Bold, etc.
I've edited the style sheet connected to the page layouts we use, so that our own H1, H2, H3, etc... styles are defined. When using the r.a.d editor and applying a paragraph style, for example, the Heading 1 style to text, the correct style (i.e. Blue, Arial, 14, Bold) is applied, but only when the page is published.

When the page is in edit mode and I am working in the r.a.d.Editor, the customized styles do not show - only the pre-defined styles that come with the r.a.d.Editor are displayed in the Paragraph Styles drop-down list - the headings are not WYSIWYG.

I hope this makes sense. Is there any way to edit the Paragraph Styles so that the Headings in the Paragraph Styles drop-down list display exactly how they will appear when published?

Thanks,
Claudia

Hello Claudia,

You can add the custom heading styles to the CssEditor.css file. This file should be stored in the \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\wpresources\RadEditorSharePoint\4.1.0.0__1f131a624888eeed\RadControls\Editor\ folder. If the file is not present there, simply create a new one.

Best wishes,

Hi Lini,

Thankyou for you reply. I have created the CSSEditor.css file and added the heading styles.
The headings in the dropdown came up correctly, but after I have made some changes to the css styles, the changes are not being reflected in the drop-down.
They styles applied to the text show when I publish the page, but not when in edit mode.

Is there something that I am missing, or some step in the whole process that I'm not doing correctly? What is the correct process for adding customized headings and paragraph styles?

Any help is much appreciated,
Thanks,
Claudia.

Hi,

The editor content area is an IFrame. It is considered a different document from the rest of the page. This means that the styles you load in the editor are separate from the ones you load on the page. That is why when you make modifications on the page styles, you also have to make them in the CssEditor.css file. Otherwise, as you already found out, you will have two different views in edit mode and presentation mode.

You can read about how to set new paragraph styles from the ToolsFile.xml here - http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet/editor/?ParagraphStyles.html

Sincerely yours,
