We have received from a customer an old .NET application (2009) made with Telerik control (Telerik.WinControls). The company which has made the application dissolved many years ago and now the customer has an issue (bug) with this application and needs a quick fix.

So we decompiled the .Net application with JustDecompile but the main issue is that all the Windows Forms are just resources files (resx). How can we decompile the old .net application and have Windows Forms files?

    Hi,

The code for the actual forms should be in .cs files, since all forms are just classes. You can "Generate project" using JustDecompile to decompile the whole assembly.

Thanks for the reply, but the "generate project" creates resx classes instead of windows form classes, moreover the code in the ".cs" classes is full of errors. Actually I had expected that the decompiler tried at least to separate the windows form classes in two partial classes as it should have been in the original project. Instead the VS generated code is together with the user implemented code in one class.

Even fixing the code of a small user control takes many hours. Fixing the whole code of all user controls and windows forms would take weeks if not months.

    Hi,

Yes, you are right. JustDecompile would not try to separate WinForms' Forms classes into 2 separate partial classes.

As an alternative I can suggest you to try adding your fix with the "Assembly Editor" plugin aka Reflexil. With it you can change the implementation of given method entirely. If it is a small fix this may work pretty well.
