RadControls for Silverlight (1.0) CTP is Live - Sign up for Download

RadControls for Silverlight (1.0) CTP is Live - Sign up for Download

We are happy to announce the official RadControls for Silverlight (1.0) CTP. Get access to the download bundle by signing up today!

RadControls for Silverlight (1.0) CTP includes five components, namely RadMedia, RadButton, RadCube, RadStrip Layout Panel, RadAnimation Extender, and RadMedia Player. Developers will now be able to use Telerik Silverlight controls in their own projects and get acquainted with the notion of control-based development originally missing in the Silverlight framework. RadControls for Silverlight require no JavaScript and XAML coding.

The newest addition to the suite, RadMediaPlayer, is a fully functional media player designed to provide the most convenient and flexible way for accessing multimedia content. Since it is based on the Silverlight Framework, RadMediaPlayer supports VC-1 and WMV video, along with MP3 and WMA audio. The media control supports the ability to progressively download and play media content from any web-server. You can point at any URL containing video/audio media content, and RadMediaPlayer will download it for you. No special server software is required.

In addition, RadMediaPlayer allows you to specify a playlist and provide the application with more than one multimedia element, time markers and loading images. Changing themes in RadMediaPlayer cannot be easier. Along with the in-built themes that RadMediaPlayer supports, you can adorn the player with their own custom theme, built with Microsoft Expression Blend.

Sign up for the RadControls for Silverlight (1.0) CTP and you will receive an email with download instructions today. We are looking forward to hearing your feedback!

The Premium RadEditor control for MOSS is based on the full-featured RadEditor version and provides a great level of customization and user experience. This new provider helps you take advantage of several key features unavailable in the free version of RadEditor for SharePoint 2007 (Lite Edition).

More specifically:

•  In-line AJAX Spellchecker
•  Find and Replace function
•  7 Ways for pasting from Word
•  AJAX-based Document Dialog
•  Dockable and Floating Toolbars
•  A Wide range of Toolbar Modes
•  System Modules for Advanced Users
•  Full-Screen Mode and Zooming
•  Unlimited Level of Undo/Redo with Action Trails

Special Offer for Customers with Active RadControls for ASP.NET Subscriptions

Special Offer for Customers with Active RadControls for ASP.NET Subscriptions

In an attempt to 'deliver more than expected' and live up to our credo, we partnered with PeterBlum.com to provide free license for Peter Blum's validation controls to Telerik RadControls for ASP.NET Subscribers. VAM: Essential Validators is a replacement to Microsoft's validators. To learn how the validation can be dramatically improved, please visit:
www.peterblum.com/vam/valmain.aspx

This special offer gives you a free Site License, which covers all production and non-production servers managed by your location only. Because the PeterBlum.com license model differs from the Telerik license model, we want to clearly define the differences - Telerik's licenses are per developer whereas PeterBlum.com's licenses are per production server. Telerik has a subscription model with updates offered over the term of the subscription. PeterBlum.com does not have a subscription. For more on this, please see this FAQ: www.peterblum.com/TelerikOffer1.aspx

All customers with a valid RadControls Subscription are welcome to sign up for a free license for VAM: Essential Validators using the link below. The offer will be available until July 31st.

Telerik at TechEd 2007

Telerik at TechEd 2007

Telerik booth at TechEd

Telerik booth at TechEd

TechEd 2007 has been a big success for Telerik - with over 2000 people visiting Telerik's booth, the team was flooded with conference attendees seeking technical information and presentation demos about the company. We helped introduce a large developer audience to our newest products - RadControls for WinForms, RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX and Telerik Reporting.

For the event, Telerik team prepared several new product demonstrations. Most applause stole the WinForms online kiosk demo, but people were equally impressed by the features highlighted in the comprehensive WinForms Quick Start Framework.

Todd Anglin, Telerik's Technology Evangelist, had the opportunity to present at a Component Round-up lunch presentation hosted by Microsoft on the last day of the conference. He demonstrated our RadAjaxManager for ASP.NET AJAX and previewed the new RadScheduler. The presentation went very well and we had immediate interest in our RadAjax products with many follow-up visits to our booth.

We were thrilled to greet all Telerik fans who stopped by our booth. It is always great to meet you guys and feel your enthusiasm. A big "Thank you" for your willingness to be honest about your experience with RadControls suites and product expectations from Telerik for the future releases! See you all again next year!

Most of you have probably built an application that needs a Forums module. So why not build your own custom forums solution? In under 60 minutes.

Impossible? Not at all thanks to Telerik's powerful ASP.NET RadGrid, RadTreeView, RadEditor and RadAjax controls.

In this Webcast, Todd Anglin, Telerik's Chief Technical Evangelist, prepares a simple SQL Express database and data access layer that will be used to work with forum data. Highlight of the Month - Telerik Presentation Framework

Highlight of the Month - Telerik Presentation Framework

The Telerik Presentation Framework (TPF), the underlying engine of all controls in the RadControls for WinForms suite, provides a completely customizable architecture for the controls, following WPF-inspired best practices. The Framework and the accompanying tools supply attractive and functional defaults for the Telerik RadControls, while simultaneously allowing the developer to exercise very fine-grained, CSS-like control over every aspect of their appearance and behavior. The TPF defines a wide variety of useful abstractions and services that provide functionality to all Telerik RadControls. The Framework is also carefully crafted for high performance by minimizing the amount of repainting and layout rearrangement necessary when constructing complex nested controls to the screen.

What are the benefits of TPF?

•  Universality - All controls have access to TPF services such as theming, animation, and property binding

•  Simplicity - No matter how complex a control may be, it is built up from a few simple types of elements to allow easy customization on a very granular level

•  Less memory - All items in a control's element tree inherit common property values from their parent elements unless these values are set locally. Thus, each element uses less memory while still providing fine-grained customization options

•  Unlimited nesting of UI elements - The uniform nature of the control architecture makes it possible to nest controls within each other for more flexible and modern user interfaces

•  Superior performance - the Framework is carefully crafted for high performance by minimizing the amount of repainting and layout rearrangement that needs to be done when constructing complex nested controls to the screen

•  Easy development - TPF comes with several tools to aid you in your development. The Control Spy is a tool to let you examine the detailed internal structure of any Telerik RadControl at run-time. With the help of the Visual Shape Designer you can create curved free-form designs for your UI elements on an integrated drawing surface. The innovative and standalone Visual Style Builder gives designers and developers a flexible way to build themes for completely codeless customization of control appearance and behavior.

•  Custom controls - You can build your own custom controls on top of TPF. As a result, the provided TPF tools such as the Control Spy and the Visual Style Builder will work flawlessly with it for full control over your application.
