New RadScheduler Announced in the First "Futures" Build of RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX

|
It is our pleasure to announce the availability of our newest scheduling component, RadScheduler, as part of the first "Futures" Build of RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX. We are dedicated to involve the community early in the development process and want to hear your feedback along the way towards our Q2 release in September.
RadScheduler is designed to combine the comprehensive nature of an Outlook-style scheduler with the usability best-practices introduced in Google Calendar. The product is implemented as a single-control which simplifies significantly the deployment and integration process. Built entirely on top of ASP.NET AJAX, RadScheduler delivers rich client-side functionality, swift performance, and effortless customization.
RadScheduler makes its first appearance with Day, Week and Month views for flexible display of appointments and tasks, as well as advanced and inline editing capabilities. Adding to its flexibility are custom resources that can be defined in design time and allow users to assign appointments to different users and perform many custom actions.
The first "Futures" Build introduces another control in the RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX suite - a much improved version of RadChart. RadChart now features a new rendering engine that optimizes performance and produces a polished chart image. The component also supports spline curve areas, empty values approximation, scale breaks and intelligent labels.
RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX Futures Build is intended for preview only and we do not recommend using the bits in production. The controls are still in development and QA phase. It is our goal to produce regular "Futures" Builds in the coming weeks towards the Q2 release in September. RadWindow and RadEditor are the next controls to be added in the "Futures" Builds.

Telerik components suite for Silverlight received another boost with the official release of RadControls for Silverlight Beta. RadControls for Silverlight Beta includes five components, namely 5 fundamental building blocks (Button, Image, Media, Label, CustomElement) and 3 composite controls (MediaPlayer, StripLayoutPanel and Cube).
Developers can use Telerik Silverlight controls in their own projects and get acquainted with the notion of control-based development originally missing in the Silverlight 1.0 framework. All RadControls are fully customizable through themes. We ship several predefined themes for each control and provide the option to further customize them with Microsoft Expression Blend.
RadControls for Silverlight require no JavaScript and XAML coding.
Silverlight Beta is distributed for free to all community members who have a valid Telerik Client.net account.

Although these resources refer to RadMenu, other controls in the Telerik RadControls suite follow the same deployment model and requirements. While the demonstration site used in the resources is a MOSS 2007 Publishing site, these same steps apply to all WSS v3 based sites, including sites created using the Team Site or Blank Site site template.

Telerik Introduces RadTreeView for WinForms

|
RadTreeView for WinForms facilitates the display, management, and navigation of hierarchical data structures and is the perfect replacement of the standard treeview component for Windows Forms. It combines highly-efficient rendering, Classic or Vista-style looks, superior performance, full drag-and-drop capabilities, and nearly codeless development experience.
What are the benefits of RadTreeView for WinForms?
- Vista-like Node Images in Fill - Telerik RadTreeView offers a unique feature to include the node image in the background fill on hover
- Node checkbox support (checked, unchecked, partial state) with exceptional support for checking/unchecking all child nodes whenever the parent node’s checkbox is checked/unchecked
- Intuitive design-time support
- Top performance with many nodes (RadTreeView is 3 times faster than the standard treeview control with 50,000 nodes, 1.6 sec. vs 5 sec.)
- Expand animations and node scaling, inherited natively from the Telerik Presentation Framework (TPF)
- Context menu with styling; support for different context menus for different tree nodes
- Drag-and-drop of nodes within the same tree with intuitive position indication cursor, automatic up/down tree scrolling, and opening of collapsed nodes
- Drag-and-drop of nodes between two RadTreeView controls
- Full appearance customization with theme support (includes several predefined themes - Office 2007, Windows Vista, etc.)
- Control over initial node state - expanded/collapsed
- API for dynamic add/delete of nodes
- Full keyboard support
