## Internationalization Support

The Telerik and Kendo UI frameworks regard the process of internationalization as part of the broader globalization concept. The internationalization services, together with the translation of messages and right-to-left support (localization), deliver the full-blown globalization features of the UI components.

Internationalization is the adaptation of the content inside the components to the requirements of different culture locales, first and foremost, by setting the desired culture and, then, by providing services for formatting and parsing of dates and numbers.

The definition of the culture further specifies the rules for date and number formatting and parsing. For example, in an US-defined culture, the date will follow the month-date-year format definition, while in a French-defined culture, the date will follow the date/month/year format definition.

Each UI suite delivers default cultures and also allows you to extend the existing culture definitions by adding and setting custom locales.

### Date Formatting and Parsing

The purpose of date formatting is to interpret basic properties for formatting dates in the specific culture. Date parsing builds on top of that and is the process of converting these basic properties into human-readable standard and custom date formats by using the culture-specific settings.

The purpose of number formatting is to interpret basic properties for formatting numbers in the specific culture. Number parsing builds on top of that and is the process of converting these basic properties into human-readable standard and custom number formats by using the culture-specific settings.
