Less than a year ago, Yohann Merran had an idea for a social media app that would transform the way we make plans with our friends and family. While attending the Founder Institute, Yohann was inspired and accelerated his venture into the start-up world of the Silicon Valley. This is how Joynr came to life.
Leveraged Existing Web Dev Skills to Build an App that Makes Planning a Fun Night Out Easier
“I was looking for a framework on top of PhoneGap to manage UI. I came across jQuery mobile, then Telerik Platform. The development experience with Telerik Platform has been great. When I show the app to my partners, very few people say that it’s not a native app; most say it’s a native app.”
Joynr is self-described as a “cross between a city guide and social network.” The app was designed to make it possible for users to post events they would like to attend, invite friends, and gain access to guest lists and event tickets that would otherwise be unavailable or extremely hard to get. Through Joynr’s partnership with different promoters, whether you are just visiting or are a local, you can view different upcoming events, invite your Facebook friends, purchase discounted tickets and gain access to various guest lists all over town.
Joynr uses a lot of the great capabilities that come from using the Telerik Platform, including the ability to connect to native functionalities like Facebook login, Push for notifications, calendar, geolocation and social sharing.
The Joynr team has plans for continued relationship-building and event-planning to make more events available to its users, and to grow the power of the social network they are creating while using Telerik Platform to scale the cross-platform app.
